I'm sure there will be a lawsuit brought on by the Chambersburg Gay Atheists Association.

Why would anyone think Silverman would come after a church? His whole issue is separation of church and state.

Your question is being posed to idiots.

I can't tell if they think they're being cute or if they actually believe that Silverman is hostile to legitimate expressions of faith outside the public arena. Unfortunately all we'll get is the single flame and no follow-up attempt at dialog.

Pity - I'd really like some authentic dialog about faith on here sometime. Why won't anyone do that?

Referring to the "banished" creche on the Square in Chambersburg, Borough Council should take note of what they did yesterday at the Luzerne County Courthouse. They too had removed a traditional creche, but have now placed it back along with a new Santa Claus, a snow man, a candy cane, etc., saying everything are a part of the celebration of Christmas, and it's not religious!

It's religious if it's a nativity scene; I'm fine with secular displays, but that's not the point either. There is a Chambersburg ordinance stating that the memorial square is to be adorned with flags and flowers only. Yet they put up the nativity every year just asking someone to oppose it.

I'd much sooner leave the square for it's intended purpose, and leave the religious symbols to the churches and the secular displays to the downtown area. I love what Chambersburg has done with the lights, although that Christmas tree on the square is looking a bit squalid.

We drove from Canada to see the Nativity last year.
What a great experience! A wonderful way to better understand the true meaning of Christmas.
A big bouquet to all the volunteers who work so hard to make this happen.
I encourage you to go and see this Nativity and make it a family tradition. A great way to make Chrismtas come alive for children.

The best and most memorable Christmas "display" on the Square is when the fountain was changed into a Christmas tree. But the weight of the pine and the lights on the 100+ year old fountain was too dangerous!
