As we are well aware Gettysburg was not awarded a casino license. The license had been awarded to an area with more economic potential.

As time has passed and people have moved on, it begs to ask the question, what are the locals doing now to improve their town?

I was wondering what ever happened to some of the super posters whom were regulars on these boards. What if any, ideas have they set into motion to attract new businesses to the community?

Philadelphia is getting ANOTHER casino.

I think with all of the gang violence that has taken over Gettysburg, the casino companies and the state regulators aren't taking any chances with Gettysburg.

There isn't much that the locals can do. That's why they are so unusually quiet.

OMG!! I was JUST posting on the Borovent thread as to WHERE are the Pros's WHO wanted the CASINO?? Bill Kearney was a wild card, he was soooo against gambling, because of his past gambling addiction and has tour bus tours to visit the Philly Casino for those who were skeptical of voting for it. He and Gettysburg Baseball Mom used to duke it out on the casino thread..there was Fire Marshall Bill..WHO defended the casino's planned site, it being zoned for a private business..AND the casino was indeed a PRIVATE BUSINESS! FMB was always targeting Pete and myself..as to question..of WHAT IF? Nile was getting hammered by Bill Kearney of his casino experiences while there with his parents..always referring to him as JUNIOR..Pink Eye, Believe and Adams County Native were ALSO key players on the casino threads as well. YES, I also see that a STARBUCKS may or already have set up shop in Gettysburg..folks do loooove their java. Wonder if they packed up and left a gang ridden town or stayed and are fighting for their right to live their life...THEIR WAY!..ROCK ON!

I donít believe Philadelphia will be getting ANOTHER casino. There were originally three approved for the Philly area on the first go around, and to the best of my knowledge one of them has not even opened yet.

I just canít imagine that the PGCB would approve a fourth casino for an area in which one already approved has not opened yet.

And I could be wrong, but I donít believe there are any more licenses scheduled to be released till 2015.

That, I believe, is open already. Yet another casino that passed Gettysburg by. Must be those powerful Philadelphia Metro area politicians. They wanted the casino and they took it from the little Gettysburg babies!
Your correct the Resort is open and pumping money into the local economy.

Or they understood the area wasn't right for it and decided on a more suitable location.

It could be the lack of real opportunities within the community and the thought of working for pauper wages until retirement

I don't live in Gettysburg so this is just my personal opinion, but yes I believe it would have helped, and it would not have taken away from the Battle site, I believe it would have brought more visitors and interest in the area and its' history.
