Do you think everything is OK in ray county? One candidate does and has no plans for change.

The Ray County Sheriffs Department has to have change and it starts at this election. Garry is wrong about not wanting to change anything. He has been Chief Deputy for the past years and doesn't want to look like there is any problems. The deputies need leadership and I'm sure want it and would appreciate it. They only make 25-30k a year. They don't do it for the money and obviously want to do the right thing. With the right leadership and supervisor training, that department will turn around. I'm sure the moral sucks there and the tension is high. Working with Major B. Bush has to suck and we all know he will still be there if his brother Garry is elected. Get out and vote for Jay

Once again, who is Jay

What are his qualifications?

Why didn't he file back before the August primary?

Go to his facebook page jaybertrandraycountysheriff to get information on the man. He is a 24 year resident of Ray county and been in law enforcement for 25 years, most of it with the Clay county sheriff's department. I heard that when someone else had signed up to run earlier in the year during the primary he backed off, when the other candidate dropped out after the primary he decided to run.

You don't read the paper? There was another Republican candidate who won during the primary at the beginning of august but he decided to back out. so the republican committee had the chance to put someone else on the ballot. so they did and it is mr. bertrand.

There are too many people in this county who will vote for Garry because they know he and Brian will never allow them to be busted for their activities.

I think I speak for alot of people. We like Garry but Brian has pretty much ruined things and needs to step down. We know this won't happen if garry is elected. I don't think the sheriffs brother should be second in command if Garry is elected. Good grief Brian pretty much runs the show now and look at the state of the department....unprofessional, egotistical, lazy, red neck, good ol boy, ran department. Just visually look at the jail for the red neck part.

A lot of criminals look at the jail, as they are escaping from it. It is astounding how this type of nepotism can be allowed by the county commission. But I guess they would have to give a damn about something before they would act on anything.

A Lexington resident has filed a lawsuit against Ray County, Lieutenant Brian Bush, and Director of 911 Operations Kim Davis.  Jamie Liese, a former dispatcher, is claiming Bush assaulted her last summer.  Liese is seeking $25,000 in damages.  The sheriff’s department has not returned phone calls seeking comment.  We will update this story as more information becomes available. Good goin Brian baby!!! C'mon Jay here's some more fuel for the campaign. Oh and Brian is still actively working (if you call it that) full time.

This lawsuit came out in May. And it seems Jay has plenty of ammunition for his campaign but he isn't working it that way. I say good for him.

I'm sorry but u must not understand how many people know Garry Bush as a good ol boy. He is well known and all Jay has to do is tell the truth. I'm not saying to play dirty. There are plenty of people willing to listen and want change, but when it comes down to it, it's Garry Bush.

I believe the last election for PA showed you can only win by playing dirty. Forgot the last guys name but he had many years experience in criminal law but refused to mud sling at Rogers, so the county votes in a young kid fresh out of law school based on a dirty campaign!

He just had less mud to sling, due to her being so inexperienced, her criticism of him was justified to the extent, that he was not prosecuting many cases. As it turns out she is just as bad or worse in that area, and is spending far more money in an office that is not doing much. Lets hope all candidates run an honest campaign, so we can vote based on facts not unsupported lies and misinformation.
