Have any of you observed the same thing that i have. All I see in this town is people who are either on meth or some sort of prescription drug. The DUI's have also picked up in this town as well. Every city or township has their share of problems but Richmond, and even Lexington have become plagued with it. What are your thoughts?

Guess it all depends on the company you keep.....

True it does depend on the company you keep. I dont keep that type of company but its hard not to notice. Just remember, Richmond is a small town, small enough to make an accurate judgement of what is going on here. In march there was a house kicked in for meth. Last week in the paper I believe there were at least 4 or 5 traffic stops that resulted in charges for posession of meth. The neighborhoods around the shotwell edition of richmond is filled with the problems as as. All you have to do is drive down Jabez street, Wellington street and others in that general area, to draw a pretty good idea. Its not just contained there, however I would venture to say the bulk of it is. Notice the population change in this town as well. It has dropped nearly 5 percent in less than 10 years that says something.

Interesting topic. Some statistics for Ray County (all of the county) may be found at:
http://dmh.mo.gov//docs/ada/rpts/status11/e35...

Interesting information... The website also has information for other counties for comparison.

Yes it is in richmond deals are done on the streets in plane site and nothing being done. Pretty sad if you ask me. Why do you want that in
your neighborhood. Just like the partys the teens
are having and parents buying the beer and everyone
knows who they are and nothing gets done about it.

The problem is that there isnt anything in this town. All it has is a walmart and 3 bars and a few places to eat. Give it time and soon enough we will have the DEA or FBI in this town. In my opinion it cant happen soon enough. This town needs a cleansing. Until that happens the house prices will continue to lose their value, and people will continue to leave and move elsewhere. Not saying that meth is the only reason that people are moving out of here but it probably has alot to do with it.

You people have no idea about the drug trades in Richmond. A lot of doors are being kicked in. Several drug dealers have quit selling from fear of being caught. That's the first good thing I've seen the Richmond Pig Department do in my life time. Richmond cops are all very rude, with the exception of two in my expirience. Officer fulvarchivk???? He is a pretty nice guy.

When one of your friends and or relatives is killed by a drunk driver you may have a different opinion... yes kids are going to drink but parents and principals shouldn't be supplying, attending or hosting parties!

If you are a 'regular' RHS student, then how do you know about drug dealers' actions/inactions?!?

@Guest- drinking and driving is obviously idiodic, I'm not sure why you must incorporate the two. Also, I agree parents should not host party or suply alcohol.
@just sayin- I smoke weed, therefore I have drug dealers and I know about th drug trade. I'm sure you have all sorts of problems about that. 48% of highschool students smoke marijuana.
@spartan cow- your obviously nine years old since you don't know how to spell squeal, and you don't know how to spell you.

Trust me I know all about the drugs and the trade in this town. I know alot of people and alot of people who sell and use. Just because you smoke weed does not make you an expert trust me. Its deeper than that. I could mentions names if I choose to but I will refrain. I can mention a few houses as well and I will refrain from that as well. I am not too old to know what is going on in this town actually I am fairly young to be honest but very educated at the same time.
All you have to do is be observant and just watch what is going on and pay attention, the signs are there.

You truly have alot to learn. For one, I would not admit that I smoked weed on this forum or any other for that matter. Have you ever heard of an IP address. When you post stuff like that, it could be traced right to where you live or aquiring your internet connection. Just had to throw that out there. Just because parents or OLD people as you call them, are posting about these parties with underage drinking, doesnt mean they are snitching. They are just tired of people providing alcohol to minors. There is a reason why kids should not be drinking. It doesnt have to pertain to driving. Its the safety for the child. The last thing a parent needs to hear is that, their child is in the hospital for alcohol poisoning, or that their child was gang raped while she was passed out drunk. You may not drink and drive but, what about the person next to you. What if you were killed or severly injured because of a drunk driver? What if it was your best friend? These are just some of the reasons why parents or OLD people post these kinds of things. You will eventually have children one day and maybe then you would understand. By the way I would not be surprised if meth is at some of these parties as well.

ANother thing, leave Spartan Cow alone or letard or his or her many other screen names. I actually find the comments made by him kinda humerous at times. Comic relief.

On a serious note, feel free to respond, I love debates just be civil.

There are much worse things I could do besides marijuana, I belive its the safest drug out there, not safe just, least deadly. The odds of the RPD tracing my IP adress are slim to none. I understand child safety is an issue and always will be. Yet my concern is, what sort of parties do you think occur here? A lot of kids attend parties and do not drink, and can stop any fights or mishaps. Most parties are contained to maybe a dozen or so people that have been friends for years. Kids are not doing hard drugs and raving, they are blowing off steam with close friends. I'm not saying under age drinking isn't wrong, its just not as bad as most people think. At least in Richmond.

I understand, your point. I drank when I was a teenager as well. I have been to many parties when I was a teenager. I am sure they havent changed much since. The problem is the selcet and I do mean select few underage drinkers that arent responsible. It ruins it for everyone else. The same goes for adults. Drink responsible and dont ruin it for everyone else. As a parent I dont want my children to drink but I do know that it will happen eventually. All I can do is educate them. They are age 3 and 7 right now but its right around the corner. When you are at these parties or drinking just be careful and know your limits and try to stay sober enough to be aware of your actions and surroundings. Its true for anyone at any age. Weed is not the problem these days, yes it is a drug by definition, but harmless compared to the others. I cant stand meth because of what it does to people and how it changes them. This goes for all the other more extreme drugs out there.

You probably dont have to worry about the RPD tracing your IP address, however this is an open forum other agencies can look at it as well. Not saying that they are but anything is possible these days.
Back to the main topic. Meth is a big problem in this town and so is prescription drug abuse. I wasnt refering to a certain age group, but the population as a whole. All age groups are affected by it but it seems that the adult population has the higher rate of abuse. As far as I can tell, the investigative practices used by the RPD, is flawed. They seem to be more worried about writing citations for petty ordinance violations than anything else.
Hey that person has a headlight out. I am going to pull him over and wright him a ticket for 85 dollars and then I am going to issue him a citation because his insurance card is expired.
On the flip side of things, a routine traffic stop is the most common way officers find drugs on people.
