This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard of, and here in Oroville I hear a lot. Thank-God the Canadians are environmentally enlightened or this stupidity would probably happen. The Canadians will never allow it...

You are absolutely right and I should have clarified myself better~ The Canadians in Osoyoos and surrounding areas are much more environmentally enlightened than the folks in Oroville Washington and I dare say most of the folks in Okanogan County.

Beware the political bedfellows of Okanogan County. Okanogan County politicians will get their way, regardless of how enlightened the Canadians are.Money hungry industrialists have used this town for thier own greed. The Oroville Town Counsel is woefully unprepared and uneducated to even begin to understand the enviromental impacts of such a proposal. For these members to make a stand For the Environment - well.... Just drive down to Veranda Beach and witness first hand the Class A sustainable? green? housing development for stepford octegenarians. Owned no less by Canadians. How about the full blown sawmill right in city limits, four blocks away from the elementary school---- owned by Canadians. Do Canadian Industrialites lose their principals when they cross the border? Or do they KNOW that they can get away with in the state of Washington what they would not think of doing in Canada.
By they way the local newspaper is called the "Daily Wipe"
