Poor little bobby. Always has an excuse, but never any good reasons why he can't finish what he started. The fact of the matter is that he resigned, not retired, resigned!

A long nap; how about a long dirt nap? He's leaving because the perverbial crappola is about to hit the fan and he doesn't want to be caught in the cross fire.

He should go to JAIL for what he has done. It will take years to right this ship!

Start asking recent board members why they have left the board, like the previous Chairman and you'll find some very telling stories.

While they're at the investigation, maybe ol' vern ought to be looked into also.

Scarry that everything SOB said is true. I think more than vern should be looked at - just look at the last two grand jury reports that slapped not only shark boy, but the board as well. and everything in the report was completely ignored by the board. Hmmmmmm. Maybe cause some of those board members were scared?

the first Grand Jury report was about things the former manager Scotty and his board did.

Not really "what" That was all just a copout. Shark boy came on board and as he started taking frrpd down, and screw things up, spend too much money, etc, etc; he would always say things like "because the former manager..." I remember all the articles in the paper and he blamed scotty as long as he could. But you can do so for only so long. Funny you didn't mention the second grand jury report (that included all kinds of ILLEGAL actions from shark boy - that report had NOTHING to do with scotty. I guess my memory is a bit better than yours.

I was there during the Grand Jury investigation. Shark had his door closed all the time with Vene. This is when Shark had all the doors removed from everyone else's doors. Also when his friend purchased all new computers - paid for on a personal credit card. This was right after his term as City Councilor. I never understood why he had such a hard time with the City, since he had just served the City. Anyone?

I'm pretty sure you are the person who had a hard time with FRRPD and then the city too, as an employee at both places. Still trying to stir the pot?

Nope. Try again. There are so many former employees that know about the situation
(read fraud) that I could be anyone. Thanks for playing.

Guess not, but your is selective. The grand jury came in a couple of weeks after Sharkey became manager. The report criticized all the financial data and record keeping that had been in place under former management, when the budget was prepared in ink without any input from staff or departments. In fact, the old manager called it a "one man show."
The jury also criticized the district for going deficit each years for several years, making the county have to cover its bad checks. The district had received a letter from the county under former management forbidding the district to continue that practice or the county could have to take over.
None of those problems were created by Sharkey, but he had to deal with them. Anything firing in the old brain cells Bill? I could go on, but you obviously have an ax to grind and have your mind set with your fictional accounts of the district's problems.

Very funny Bobby. Or Johny. Whoever you are. I read the Grand Jury Report that I'm talking about (the report that came after the one you mention) and it was quite specific on who they were accusing and what the accusations were. Bobby was accused of several illegal acts. So was the Board. Do you remember the skatepark and expensive change orders approved by Bobby himself without Board approval? He got slapped hard by the Grand Jury but his buddies on the Board covered Bobby in a blanket for protection.
Any of the board members at that time that weren't Bobby's Buddies resigned. I wish they would have stayed on and fired his ars instead of walking away, but that's what they did. I can't blame them though, I wouldn't want my name attached or in any way a part of the "Years that broke FRRPD's back". Oh I forgot, you probably want to argue about the "Bobby's Buddies" Comments. who are they? Silly fool, why John and Vene of course! Everyone knows that... I hope the next GM can fix this increadible mess left behind. At least now we can truly blame the previous GM because it is Bobby. Oh, last thing, don't think for a second that he is retiring for his Dr. recommendations - wait until the next Grand Jury Report comes out. They might make a movie on it. Remember, running away is different from retirement...

the park district has been broke for years. It went deficit for years under past management.
When the change orders were approved for the Skat Park, there was another manager whose name I won't mention. Only there a few months. And yes the Grand Jury made all kinds of allegations based on essentially hearsay from disgruntled employees, as they did that year with many county departments. A disgruntled employee in a county department said her boss drank on the job, as she had smelled alcohol on her breath, and the jury published that. Anyone can make anonymous allegations to a jury and get them published, but that doesn't mean they are true. You've made a number of untrue allegations about Sharkey in your posts, so you are probably one of the former jurors.
But State Parks investigated the Skate Park funding and determined it had been used well and appropriately, complementing the district on the project.
Hey Nark Boy, I think Shark Boy rules, and you just hate that.

I think you need to read the last grand jury report again. and please be sure to read the next one!

Ok aside from grand jury, how about:
Taking out a (probably illegal) Line of credit to build more parks they can't maintain.
Making district pay for his personal vehicle repairs.
spending of tax dollars (grants or not, they belong to the public) of over $1 mil on a skate park.(somehow surpassed the soccer fields that were in the works long before the skate park project.
Concentrating on building new parks (beautiful as they are) and not maintaining existing parks (beautiful as they were).
Removing/laying off/firing staff that actually had an education, experience, and a clue as to what they were doing.
removing office doors (come on now!).
Not supporting the benefit assessment district at a time the district could really use the funding.
The list goes on and on... Sorry to offend you, it's all just frustrating. I do wish him well in retirement.

You should ask FRRPD - the lead agency for the development of the so-called soccer fields.

Please note that State Parks determined IT'S SHARE of the grant was spent appropriately. Not the entire project....just the money that State Parks funded. The other moneys were shifted, moved around, transitioned to other areas/porjects, yada yada yada. The money trail is very difficult to follow, as accounts even account numbers!) were changed. The Grand Jury report even mentions that the BOARD MEMBERS thought the County was GIVING them money, not loaning them during a "dry" spell. Yikes!
