Target didn't buy the building. If you want to know what's going on go to a planning commission meeting. Call city hall to find out the schedule.

If it's a waste of time so is bitching on a public forum. I don't have to go because one of my parents is on it and tells me what's going on.

My fear is that Wal-Mart will have even greater leverage now to prevent any competition in this town. That's how they operate.
Hello, there is no competition in Oroville now. For example, Raleys owns Food Max and when Wal mart comes, Food max will be the way they bust the union in Oroville. Wal Mart will expand business oppertunties in Oroville, the good ol boys will have to work for their profits.

I can now reduce my carbon footprint by not having to drive to Chico and Yuba City so much now. I feel so green. I guess I can keep my Dodge Cummins and not trade it in on one of those girly little Prius cars.
Just think of the GAS we will save and there will be much less smog ! We will have more money to spend in Oroville, some folks may even be able to get a JOB ! Good JOB city council and Wal Mart ! What Oroville needs now is fish and chips an an In and Out Burger place !

Actually, at this stage of the game it would probably be a safe assumption that nobody has bought the building yet... for heavens sake, they are probably 2 years away from opening the super Walmart

You are correct. Wal-Mart currently has no competition in Oroville.

Why do you think that building a bigger Wal-Mart will change that? Being the only game in town in a small community and keeping other retailers out is in their business plan. It has happened hundreds of times in other communities.

Wouldn't you rather have some variety and competition instead of a single large retailer?

If Food Maxx and Raley's close their doors after the new Wal-Mart opens, would you be happy? Wal-Mart certainly would.

Finally, something good and positive is happening for the town of oroville.I've been in oroville for 40 years and have also been ashamed to tell people where I live. We have had good places to eat and shop one time or another, and then, there they go. Lets put something we all need here and keep it here. have a great day.
