Hopefully, you will all get what you wanted.

My fear is that Wal-Mart will have even greater leverage now to prevent any competition in this town. That's how they operate.

Yeah! A bigger, better Wal-Mart is coming! Can't wait. We need a place to shop with better variety because we still have to go out of town for items.

I can now reduce my carbon footprint by not having to drive to Chico and Yuba City so much now. I feel so green. I guess I can keep my Dodge Cummins and not trade it in on one of those girly little Prius cars.

This decision is excellent and it is wonderful to see the Planning Commission and the City Council really listening to the citizens. If we did not already have a long history with WalMart, the feeble arguments by opponents might have stood a chance. However, WalMart has not run businesses out of this town, and it is not going to impact any other businesses. If anything,WalMart draws business from the smaller communities like Gridley,Biggs, and Richvale. This will be good for Oroville.

Many people voiced the same concerns in the town of Hanford, California. When the Super Walmart opened there people stayed in Hanford to shop instead of driving to Fresno or Visalia.
After the newness of the Grand opening wears off, the same thing will happen in Oroville.People will stay in Oroville to do their shopping instead of driving to Chico and Yuba City, thus it will help Oroville.

Since Chico turned thumbs down on the Super Walmart, maybe we can reverse the trend of our tax dollars flowing to Chico and the Chicoans will come here to shop at our Super Walmart!!

Now, lets get going on some other quality chain stores and restauraunts...Kohls, Pennys, Olive Garden, etc. Lets turn Oroville into a thriving community!

Recently moved to Oroville from the bay area. Wow!! Never lived in a town with NO stores before so to me this is a definite step forward. I am 73 and don't appreciate traveling 20 miles to shop, so I say let's get this project rolling and bring shoppers to Oroville for a change..

Is that the best you got? We in Oroville need that super Wall Mart since no other large business have been allowed to set up in Oroville. There is NO competion now in Oroville. Thank you city council for voting for progess in Oroville, finally !

Please be more specific..just what local businesses will suffer? and I don't get the retail theft thing at all.. and since when has it been proven that a super walmart will bring in the criminal types.. you're a fear-monger...stop it!

Hello, don't blame the union that mouth just has too much free time on his hands, maybe he will go away to his hole.
