Out of control spending on welfare, other crap governemnt programs, and handouts to illegals are what you should be worried about. Public safety should make what they do. Why aren't you doing the job and making the good money? Because you don't want to...and if you did, you wouldn't be good enough.
I make plenty of money, am educated, happy with what I do and am very good at it. I pay taxes so, I have a right to say where I want my money going. Your retort sounds like a run of the mill shpeel that gets ingrained in ones head, by listening to too much right wing talk radio; not someone that really genuinely thinks about what they're saying!

PEOPLE,PEOPLE, PEOPLE. IF you only knew Mr. Honea you would know the FANTASTIC deal you are getting. How many people do you know have passed the Bar on their first try (rather they took classes on line or in a class room)? I have been in law enforcement for over 30 years and retired recently (without a disability). In those 30 years I have not seen anyone in the profession come close to having the brains and common sense that Mr. Honea has. His knowledge of the law, his high morals and his drive to assure that the law is upheld and rights are not violated will SAVE Butte County in liability costs FAR beyond his salary each and every year. If you get to know him, as a tax payer you will love him!!

Honea is a political hack. He has limited experience as an actual police officer who worked patrol. He never was a supervisor for anyone other than the district attorney's office where the invesigators get paid about $70k a year and do very little for it. He plays and talks a good game and is intellegent, but in the end his primary concern is his political career.

A lot of lip service out of Honea, but what has he really changed at the traditionally "good ol boy" sheriff's office? Has he brought any technology to the deputies so they can provide better service? Nothing that wasn't forced on the office by state budget mandates with the jail and courts. He will get appointed to sheriff when Sheriff Smith retires so he can run as the incumbent and win. Then he will do a term, maybe two, then seek higher political office in Sacramento. In the end, it's all about Honea and his career.
