Gun owners stocking up as new ammo law looms

Full story: Oroville Mercury-Register

Gun shops in Butte County have seen a small spike in ammunition sales as handgun owners stock up before a new California ammunition law takes effect next month, if it's not ruled unconstitutional.

All stupid laws like this do is make honest people dishonest by making sellers sell illegally and buyers buy illegally. The bad guys dont do anything by the law anyway so they will always manage to get guns and all the ammo they want. I am a 70 year old woman and I get this why dont the doofus polictcians understand this? And by the way there is no such thing as too much ammo!!

I reload and head to Reno enough that this won't affect me. Maybe it will wake up some of the armed sheep though to realize that they rapidly losing their Constitutionally protected* rights.

* The Constitution protects inalienable rights, it does not grant them, regardless of what the moonbats that will arrive shortly bleat.

"I'm not doing anything wrong, so it doesn't matter."... How many victims of government injustice have said that very thing in the past. How many Jews thought the same thing before they were rounded up in boxcars to go to the camps during WWII.

Hopefully, this will get overturned today.

I don't see it as workable, as there is no clear definition of what "handgun" ammo is.

It is also useless, as stated in the article, as there will be no central database of purchases. How will law enforcement obtain purchase info for an individual? Call every ammo seller in state and ask them to look through their binder?

Some of us use obscure (i.e., antique) calibers that are not available locally. I would hate to have to drive 50, 100, 300 miles to pick up a box for plinking. Online ordering is much more convenient, but AB 962 will end that should it come into force.

Now just wait a minute. I am depending on this new law to create a whole new black market for ammo. I can buy by the box and sell by the bullet. Supplement my Social Security.
Really, if there is already a law to restrict certain individuals from being around gangs (or from robbing, stealing, assaulting)then why not just enforce that law instead of creating another law that will not be enforceable???

Now what is scary is how they are talking about outlawing "stockpiling". I'm sure that will be just as precisely written as this piece of garbage.

They already sensationalize situations where "thousands of rounds were found", even though that just means the person may have bought a few bricks of .22 ammo.

The goal is to totally restrict the right to arm oneself. After that is out of the way, the rest will soon follow. History has repeated itself over and over when the citizens are disarmed... "dissidents" in the Soviet Union; Armenians in Turkey; Jews, Christians, and others in Germany; more "dissidents" in China; Mayans in Guatemala; Christians in Uganda; and the "educated" in Cambodia.

But, with the hatred I see on here, I bet some would love to see Christians and other "middle" folk in the US "disposed of", right Joe Sixpack?

It looks like AB 962 has been overturned on the grounds of vagueness and non-enforceability.

Thank you, Judge Hamilton for showing integrity in the face of Nanny State politics.

I'm sure some liberal nose-wiper is busy scribbling up a replacement for this ill-conceived bill as we speak, so let's not let our guard down.

I am quite pleased with today's ruling (and you don't hear me say that very often!)

The Court ruling on the un-Constitutionality of AB 962 is fantastic news. Hopefully, a few more of these absolutely stupid and "infringing" laws will be shut down as well in the coming years. I am very sad at the disaster this State has become. And we elected more of the same to do more of the same. "Insanity."

AB 962 is the start of a good law. I believe that we as Americans have the right to bear arms, but I also believe that regulations are needed. When you buy a gun, you must not only show ID but be checked out as well. I think that AB 962 doesn't go far enough. Ammo should be just as regulated as guns are. Granted, this law does not keep the Criminal element from buying ammo but it does retain their print and photo identification; of course criminals will and do find the means of getting not only ammo but the guns as well.

What about gasoline? Criminals often use gasoline to build bombs, commit arson and even maim and kill people. It is much more volatile and unstable than a box of ammunition, as many would agree.

Would you agree to filling out a form, submitting your ID, signature and a thumbprint every time you put gas in your car? I didn't think so.

Oh, and buying gasoline does not qualify as an inalienable right, as does the right to keep and bear arms.

Sadly, more than ever before it is becoming necessary to arm oneself. The economy is diminishing the effectiveness of the police departments with all of their layoffs, so it is becoming apparent that citizens will have to protect themselves. Look at Camden NJ, laying off 40% of their force...does anyone think that the gangs and criminals are not going to have a field day in that city? You will see the city government warning the populace not to arm themselves.... good luck with that!

Obama is just determined to enforce his Socislist /UN agenda. He's a joke . Without W there would be no Obama- without Ovama there would not be an uprising in White working class Ameica and the next openly "pro White" President. All 60 million of Obsmas lethards and the 15 million illegals - enjoy the freebies while you can . Just wait until you have to provide for yourself -and don't know how. That's why Whites keep a billion weapons . The government can horde the ammo all they want- like everyone with guns doesn't already have a stockpile .
