A giant sunspot that's at least six times the diameter of Earth has formed on the sun in less than 48 hours, according to NASA. So what? Haven't the global climate "scientists" been telling us for decades that changes in the sun have virtually nothing to do with Earth's climate? Don't you believe in consensus? I mean, how could a ball of fusing hydrogen 1,300,000 the size of Earth with a coronal temperature of 4,000,000K+ possibly have more impact on the climate than the kind of lightbulb you use in your house?

You don’t have enough information to be discussing this, a sunspot is a cooler spot on the sun, not a hotter spot. The solar maximum should be passed this year, but the 9-14 year cycle historically has no real correlation to the registered temperature changes that have been recorded as continuing to rise over the last 100 years. This is misinformation that is spread by those that have a political purpose, not a scientific one . You need to find people that have less knowledge on the subject, the ignorant, that is your constituency

The sunspot quickly evolved into an unstable configuration and could lead to solar flares, Nasa warns. Which could endanger Earth-orbiting satellites, temporary loss of electrical power over a large region. The stream of energetic particles warms the thermosphere. Carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide, coolants in the thermosphere, absorb the energy and then re-radiate heat back into space. A small fraction of the extra heat from the solar flare radiates to layers of the atmosphere below the thermosphere. Your misinformation is spread by those that have a political purpose, not a scientific one. Solar flares are not a cooler spot. You are wrong.

RiccardoFire wrote: Solar flares are not a cooler spot. You are wrong. Admit you were wrong. Then we can move on. Sunspots are caused by magnetic anomalies the reason they appear darker is because they are cooler "Although they are at temperatures of roughly 3000–4500 K (2727–4227 °C), the contrast with the surrounding material at about 5,780 K (5,510 °C) leaves them clearly visible as dark spots" the problem is you mention how hot they are, but you don’t mention the temperatures around them. You are being fooled by people that have a political agenda that tell you part of the truth, but leave out the important facts admit you were wrong and then we can move on

Sunspot spots cause solar flares according to NASA. the Sun is currently reaching the peak of its 11-year solar cycle. The Solar Dynamics Observatory was launched by NASA in 2010. The observatory spacecraft is just one of many alerting NASA to signs of solar flares, or coronal mass ejections.
One of the biggest concerns surrounding solar flares is the ability the storms have to take down our antiquated power grid. If a massive solar flare is directed at Earth, the fiscal destruction could be legendary. Both NASA and NOAA experts estimate the potential damage of such a direct hit would be in the trillions. Solar flares can reach up to 10 or 20 million degrees Kelvin.

ST. LOUIS (AP)- Blinding snow, at times accompanied by thunder and lightning, bombarded much of the nation's midsection Thursday, causing whiteout conditions, shutting down large swaths of interstate highways and forcing schools, businesses and even state legislatures to close.
Kansas was the epicenter of the winter storm, with parts of the state buried under 14 inches of powdery snow, but winter storm warnings stretched from eastern Colorado through Illinois. Freezing rain and sleet were forecast for southern Missouri, southern Illinois and Arkansas. St. Louis received all of the above - a treacherous mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
