WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT JUDGE? I think we have a huge problem when our justice systems allows a man who violated the trust of the intire community by having sex with a student at his school walk free and not be forced to register when they regulary send others to prison for lessor crimes like growing herb. What is the greater evil? Someone who preys and victimizes children? or someone who does drugs? to me sex offenders LIKE this man should spend thier entire sentence in prison with no probation and the non-violent drug offenders should get probation or mandatory rehab

You must be joking? What sort of a one horse town elects a judge with this logic? "Initiated by the student"...and the years is--1937? Unbelievable. The levels of stupidity here are beyond depressing.

Have another drink, your honor.

You just don't get it, do you? This has nothing to do with Ramsey. He opposed this sentence. This is about the decision of a Judge....not Ramsey. You are just fixated without understanding that multiple judges independently render decisions daily without concern for Ramsey. They rule. That's what Judges do. They get it right some times, they get it wrong some times....but this has nothing to do with Mike Ramsey.

Dude WTF is with people defending this kid so much? I agree 22 years is harsh. But if my kid was in the room with him to be punished not let off with probation. I also agree this judge is wacko, he hands down the most inconsistent sentences.

A year in jail, 90 days in prison, a career ruined? Sounds to me like plenty of punishment for some consensual fun with a girl who's nearly an adult already. In other cultures she'd be married with kids by now. The judge was right exercise some moderation here.
Wow, 16 years old, maybe 15 when all this started and you say she is almost an adult? SEX with underage girls is illegal...no matter what the circumstances, not to add that he was her TEACHER, come on...get a clue, shame on you to even utter words that make it sound like poor him.

This was posted under the comment section for the Oroville Mercury Register regarding this article. I think it is so well written that I am copying the comment to post here so hopefully, more Butte County readers will read it and maybe something can be done. Here is the comment by What TF:

Judge Robert Glusman found Blakey's sexual trysts to be an isolated situation, "initiated" by his student, and that Blakey "doesn't pose a danger to others, except, perhaps, foreign enemies."

1) Every pedophile's first victim is an isolated incident....until the next incident occurs.
2) It doesn't matter who initiated it! She was a child and he was an adult...period! Many men have had teenage girls hit on them, but they made the choice not to have sex with a child!
3) Doesn't pose a danger to others?? How about any other lovestruck teenager who thinks she's an adult and tries to pursue a sexual relationship with him??

I hope there is a HUGE public outcry! I hope that mothers of victims of rape and molestation will form will have an organized march at the courthouse! I hope that this will be reviewed and highly criticized by the higher government! And I hope that this will get enough media attention for every parent in the country to know this pervert's name and protect their children from him, since we can't rely on the court system to do that. Shame on you Judge Glusman! I would never wish this on anyone else, but I could see the justness if karma brought you to experience something similar and see the error in your judgment!

I would have freaked out if my kid was in that classroom. I'm glad they put that Wright kid in jail, but it does seem kind of stupid to keep him in high security prison but let sleazy people like this teacher and that drunk driver and the other rapists go free. They charged him as an adult but aren't as tough on other adults who do worse crimes.

CROSS POST:

Ramsey knows exactly how to get any given case assigned to a judge of his liking. Ramsey is also well aware of this judges propensity for giving lenient sentences. In one of Glusman's first sentencing decisions (a canabis case) Ramsey stated in a state bar journal that Glusman's lenient sentencing was due to his status as "a rookie judge". So if Ramsey wasn't looking for a lenient sentence in this case, you can bet your bottom dollar he would have moved it to another judge.

Sorry to inform you Big Picture but any prosecution tears that you might be seeing over this case are nothing more than crocodile tears.

Uh... 16 then, 17 now. And by your standards, if she had been fooling around with her 18 year-old prom date, he should go to prison and register too? You're out of your mind. Poor judgment, yes. Law-breaker? You bet. But prison and a lifetime pedophile record? No. The judge called this one right.

And because he wears (shamefully at this point) a uniform and knows someone that knows someone he gets NOTHING!!!!! Who is monitoring this judge? That judge actually said that about that poor little girl??!! WTF is wrong with us!!! We need a protest at the courthouse like YESTERDAY!! If you arent outraged, you are not human!

Butte County Superior Court Judge Robert Glusman should be yanked off the bench permanently. What a screwy thing to do, by letting the High School teacher off without MUCH more severe punishment.
Although I guess that big, brave, decorated former Marine was forced to pick up that sixteen year old girl several times over three months and let her have her way with him.
I know a couple young men, who as teenagers were also the target of aggressive younger teenage girls. Two of them were convicted of 'fondling these aggressors.' They spent time in prison, had to attend weeks of counseling where they had to 'own up to their deeds' and admit they were perverts or the counselors would report them as unrepentant to their probation officers. These young men have paid dearly and are listed as sexual offenders, forever limiting their chances of meeting their potential to become all they might have been without being dealt Butte County Justice which is definitely not equal for all defendants. The prosecuting attorney Mrs. Hunt has every reason to be 'upset.'

No, it isn't. Your statement and attitude are naive, simplistic and quite frankly, insulting to the few-and-far-between actual victims of forceful and violent rape. There may indeed be some disgrace involved in this situation, but to classify as "rape" and use the term "rapist" as you did is entirely inappropriate.

Well said! So sad to see the comments on this board dominated by reactionary simpletons. The judge has punished a foolish decision with a fair sentence. Thank you.
