thats all chp does though is search without probable cause, they pulled me over for no front plate last year and threatened to tow the car if i didnt let them search ... all they found was some engine mods that didnt comply with ca laws, still a hassle

The CHP gets to keep all of the money they find with the drugs... think about it. That's a lot of cash that gets brought to the state? or just to the station? if it even gets that far.

Legalizing pot would stop all of that money coming in and lose a lot of jobs and close prisons, Or at least stop overcrowding in prisons.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The CHP can't even conduct consent searches of vehicles anymore.

Never let a cop search your car without a warrant, even if you have nothing to hide! It is our right!

retarded and know nothing about what you're talking about. It's amazing how ignorant the average American is of the law. The K9 is a cop, and has a right to be where a cop can be...in this case on the side of a public road. Just cause pot stinks and a dog can find it doesn't mean the dog can't be there.

And once the dog says it's there, the human officer has probable cause to search. And you don't need a warrant to search a car with probable cause. And there's a huge difference between a consent search, legal authority to conduct an inventory search and tow your car (because your license is suspended or whatever) and a cop saying "I have probable cause and the law says I get to search your car."

Seriously people, these are YOUR rights, you have no excuse not to know them!

Any one that thinks CHP was not using the GPS as an excuse to pull the truck over, you are mistaken. If it was simply a traffic stop, the officer shouldn't have even had the dog out of his vehicle. How sad our society has allow law enforcement to have gestapo dogs to sniff out things. The drug enforcement industry is the biggest tax boondoggle going.

Good Job Deputy!!

What a bunch of paranoid scumbags that are whining because someone lost their pot. Probably the same people that think it's okay to give your kids pot brownies.

It's funny how people take it so personal when you get a ticket and then rehash the story to make it sound like cops are out to get you.

Just move to Amsterdam, it would be like a candy store for you junkies.

Another stupid pot bust. Taxpayers get to pay for this guy in prison because he was driving pot? Legalize the stuff and stop the stupid violence and busts.

It wasn't CHP that pulled this guy over. Read the story again. It was Butte County SO. If there is a K9 unit available, why shouldn't the dog be allowed to get out of the patrol car?
Besides, if you're going to act like a dirtbag and look like a dirtbag, don't be surprised if you get pulled over for something minor. Chances are the person is going to be on parole or probation or doing something wrong.

Huh, 4,000 dollars a pound. We used to but it for 140.00 per key in the 70s. You would think that, if one follows the laws of economics, it would be cheaper, as there is more marijuana available. So much for the war on drugs. It has become much more profitable to grow and sell it. It has also become more profitable to the courts, lawyers, police, jailers, their unions, and all the associated businesses.
Why, could it be just they way they planned it? Or more accuretely, lobbied for it?
