Seemed to be a nice guy off the bench.

Well said!
By the way, that is wrong. I began the drug court process in 1994 as a DA, implemented it in 1995 as Chief Probation Officer, and returned to it as a Assistant District Attorney in 2002. Most of the expansion was while I was in probation and could see the tremendous success and results with folks who were previously unable to function without criminal conduct. The hiring in the Court has nothing to do with Mike Ramsey, me, or the County. It is done by the Court, a division of the state.

Hollywood Mike wrote:

Will HE MAKE A SIMILAR DECISION to try those juveniles, as adults, that beat the elderly man to death in Oroville...or will he defer this decision to the juvenile court? And if he defers, this then will raise another profile of Ramsey as the selective prosecutor that he personifies. Furthermore it will demonstrate the hypocrisy that governs his decisions.
least we forget, we tuned a grown man loose after this piece of blowfish excreament raped a 14 yearold child. Mike said the man was a hero of some kind! thats what mike called the man, a ROTC instructor, after he raped a child!

You were barely out of law school when Judge Vandegrift retired. You didn't even know him and yet you are willing to assist your boss in defaming him. The sickness runs deep amongst you Ramsey apologists. You should read the following.

You guys are priceless. A lie is posted on the DA's Facebook page. The lie is then disseminated to the public and when someone responds with the truth you are dispatched by your boss to do damage control. No matter what YOUR opinion is as to any given judge's "judicial performance", it is a cheap shot and less than honorable to defame anyone but it is especially egregious when the target of the libel is unable to defend himself. And as your boss is well aware the man he is defaming served our Country, our State and our County honorably throughout his professional career. But then one should not be surprised by all of this because your boss is the master of the cheap shot and to him honor/integrity is just something to be cast aside when it gets in the way of his political agenda. No matter how you try to spin it, your boss LIED for all the world to see.....and that genie cannot be put back in the bottle. You can say what you want about the Judge but one thing is certain he was NEVER DISHONEST. And though he was small in stature his honesty alone places him head and shoulders above your boss. For the record there is a big difference between RETIREMENT and your bosses statement that the the Judge was "REMOVED" by action of the Council on Judicial Performance, and you know it! So you guys might want to be more crafty the next time you create a lie to be published for public consumption. Perhaps you would benefit from learning about the judicial application process. You can learn about it on the Governor's website. You can download the application. That will give you some insight into the process. At best, Mike wrote a letter. Judges are appointed to new positions, or to fill unexpired terms. After that, they stand before the voters.

You may know me, but you clearly do not know that I was called as a juror in this Judges courtroom when I was in college here. I observed him first hand. My observation was not complimentary. Further, I read the articles on him. I met him later after he was off the bench. You are assuming facts that you have no knowledge of.

When it's a lie, it's an attack.

Post your proof that ANY ACTION at all was ever taken against Judge Vandegrift, by the California Commission on Judicial Performance, let alone his "removal from the bench". It is easily ascertainable....all you have to do is contact The Commission and you will have your answer. Even the letter writer that generated this thread was unwilling to say that the judge was removed from the bench. And you might note that the other Ramsey mouthpiece, who was sent in to try and obfuscate what Ramsey posted on his Facebook was unwilling to go that far. You Ramsey apologists are just as lacking in integrity as he is.

Look at the front page of the Oroville Mercury-Register for Friday, May 2, 1981. There is an article there which was written by Bill Short. The article details how The Judge cited Ramsey for lying to him.

In turn Ramsey apologized by saying:

"I WILL COOPERATE AND I AM SORRY FOR THE UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT OCCURRED APRIL 24."

Judge Vandegrift graciously accepted Ramsey's apology and sentenced him to a handshake. Then the judge, a former prosecutor, offered Ramsey the following advice:

"Prosecuting attorneys are in a 'unique position' the judge said because they 'owe nothing to anyone' like defense attorneys do.'You are here not to win, but to see that truth and justice prevails'."

Judge Vandegrift may have been slight in stature but he got right in Ramsey's face and Ramsey blinked.

Think of all of the injustices that have marked Ramsey's career and how they would never have happened, If only Ramsey had heeded The Judge's advice at that time!

How does it make you feel to be advancing a lie and defaming someone on behalf of this DA, who has no respect for the law?

Don't miss the DA's latest disingenuous campaign ad which portrays him as a family man walking through a field with some young children...it's a real side splitter for anyone who is familiar with the real Mike Ramsey.

I can tell his challengers that this guy is running very scared, along with all those that are a part of his web of deceit.

Plus, I have over 30 years of service. The main reason I'm still working is because I care about the office and the work. That's also the reason I want the county to have a real, honest to goodness DA. I've got to believe there must be something pretty special about a guy to even be considered for DA when he hasn't even had 1 murder case, and has no other pertinent qualifications. What's so special about Lance Daniel?
I don't think I know you Dan Nelson but how could you have worked near Mike Ramsey for so many years and not see how he does business in many cases with the help of others in return for job security, higher positions and more pay I could name names because you can not be sued for slander for telling the truth but I won't here in this forum I don't see how you could have done your job with those blinders on

Thanks for clearing this up. Seems ramsey holds a grudge for a long time. I wonder if the state bar would like to help ramsey remember. The rosie red cheeks are a dead give away for alcoholism. This is just a great way to show that ramsey and his crew of drunks really should be drug and alcohol tested before they enter taxpayer buildings. They are paid far to well to do drugs and be drunk. Look how they protect certain meth people.

In his television campaign ad DA Ramsey tries to belittle one of the other candidates because a tattoo parlor moved into an office space beneath his office in Old Sacramento.

Well when I was in Oroville today I passed by one of Oroville's tattoo/piercing parlors, that is located on Oroville's main street (Myers street), and I'll be darned if there wasn't one of Ramsey's campaign signs posted right out in front of this tattoo/piercing parlor.

Hollywood Mike on channel 12 news this evening positioning himself (for the cameras) with federal officials taking credit for a federal conviction that he had absolutely nothing to do with. And the tv station actually sent a news crew down there to cover this non event. The other candidates ought to be asking for "equal time". But then the Ramsey groupies that make up channel 12 would not stand for anything that might get in the way of this ego maniac's re-election effort.

Trust me a few phone calls were made and the fix was in to get this before the public so Hollywood Mike could take the credit. It was the BCSO that should get all the credit. Still, it was a phot op for Mike.

This blatant bold face lie, relative to a deceased veteran, was posted by Mike Ramsey in his Facebook page on May 11 and remains there even on this day for honoring veterans.

" The judge's ill considered comments and performance in that trial were one of many of the bases for the eventual removal of the judge from the bench by action of the California Commission on Judicial Performance."

This is a malicious lie and it can be verified as such by calling the California Commission on Judicial Performance or by clicking on this link http://cjp.ca.gov/index.php...
When the lie was exposed, one of the DA's employees offered the following comment.
