It's too bad but that is how low politics have gone. A letter writer has nothing nice to say about his own candidate and therefore is forced to slander the opponent.

“Who is John Galt?”

Lance Daniel has to drive an hour and a half just to make it to the county border. It probably takes days for word of a "high-profile law enforcement incident" to reach him and then he will need a map to know where it happened. If you don't like Mike Ramsey, then fine, but someone from here should have run against him.

It is too bad someone won't run against Ramsey. He's a lousy DA. Freaks out about petty vice, yet we have more meth dealers per capita than any other county.

The letter writer -- Dale Rasmussen -- ran against Ramsey two cycles ago and got his butt thoroughly whooped. Guess he is still bitter and can't let it go. too bad for him.

With no where near the name recognition that Ramsey has created for himself, due to his love affair with the media, Dale Rasmussen came close enough to scare the hell out of Ramsey. That was 8 years ago. Since then more and more people have come to recognize Ramsey for the hypocrite that he is. If Rasmussen were to run against him today, he would surely defeat this sorry excuse for a DA. Local attorneys take note...there is still 2 or 3 weeks until the filing deadline.

BTW Dale Rasmussen's letter hit the nail right on the head.

for Rasmussen who spent virtually no money on promoting his campaign and especially for someone who was almost unknown outside of Chico. whereas Ramsey, a former Oroville Mercury Register reporter, who had been made into a household name by his butte county media groupies could only garner 59% of the vote. Ramsey would be many times more vulnerable to a local attorney, if an election were to be held today!

Rather than call Ramsey names, which is always a sign someone can't win an argument on the merits, why doesn't Rasmussen challenge Ramsey again?

Rasmussen--either put up or shut up -- or grow up. Nothing is stopping you from running again. Your letters only make you look like a whiny brat

Unless i missed something, i didn't see any name calling in Dale's letter. But since you want to argue the merits, let the debate begin! Without shifting the burden to the attorney general....what punishment does Mr. Ramsey think is deserved by a teenage girl that shoots at her father with a 45 caliber pistol or any firearm, even if the shooting was done in order to stop the father from beating the teenage girls mother.

Incidentally, does anybody know why Mr. Ramsey's current wife is always publicly invisible and why hasn't she come out to publicly support her new husband?

Mike Ramsy appears to build his career on the trailer trash platform covicting the poor the illiterate and the disabled. He appears to tough on sentencing children and the mentally ill, or anyone unable to defend themselves His family history has coined him the DV-DA...

Dale Rasmussen did indeed scare Mike Ramsey. Mike thought Rasmussen was a joke and did not take him serious. Mr Ramsey has offended many in Butte County, its time for a new DA! One that will put truth & trust back into the DA's office.

Lance Daniel was more or less "hired" by some big money polluters, to run against Ramsey. I would vote for Ramsey any time against polluters who want to buy their way out of the trouble they created so they wouldn't have to pay the cost of proper disposal of the poisons they dumped into our environment.

In spite of his feverish efforts to get on TV every chance that he gets, Mike's public approval is at rock bottom. It is sad that no local attorney has seen fit to come forward and challenge this scofflaw, if for no other reason than to ensure equal justice for everyone in Butte County. What ever happened to these Butte County lawyers who are supposed to be dedicated to the fair administration of the law? Mike was a wimp in high school and nothing has changed except that misinformed voters have continued to grant him the powers of the DA's office. But power in the hands of a wimp is dangerous indeed!

There isn't any name calling in the letter, but it does sound whiny. Incumbents get free press when challengers don't typically, that is how it goes. I wonder if a Sacramento DUI attorney coming here on the behest of the accused polluters will show the commitment to our community that we need, or will get the air time to indicate to us if there is more to him than that. Sometimes the status quo is the lesser of two evils, Mike's career does show his commitment to our community, I would think.

Armpit sniffing clowns like ol' Dale sure do tickle our funny bone when they make a stink about "political hay" being made about their public record. My advice to Lance Daniel, just FYI, Rasmussen is not a very good adviser. Show us what you got or go away.

Yep. ol' Dale is the kiss of death. Taking political advice from Dale makes about as much sense as hiring a fish to fix your bicycle.
