There should be a retraction very soon, regarding Victor Coleman, the man shot by the Oroville Police! He wasn't wielding a knife! He was sitting against the furthest wall, on the floor...smoking a cigarette. I'm his wife...this won't be swept under the bridge. Mrs. Victor Coleman

I'd like to offer some advice because I too believe this was wrong.
Criminally you won't be able to go after anyone. Civilly is another story. Although he was suicidal and claimed he was going to hurt himself, there was no one else in the room. The only person he could have hurt was himself. The Chief or Lieutenant, whomever made the order to force entry into the room created the circumstance relating to his death. There was no reason to force entry into the room.
Had the "commander" not ordered the room forced open, the confrontation would not have occurred and he may be alive today. I personally have been in situations where a person is threatening suicide and claiming to have a gun. They were determined to be alone and no one else was in immediate danger. We left, rather than CREATE a situation where we would get hurt, or force that person to kill themselves.
They should have walked away. He didn't threaten to hurt anyone else. You lost a husband, and those officers have to live with the memory of killing a person who probably would have become rational agin once the intoxicants had worn off. I'm sorry for your loss. I know it could have been avoided.
