Walmart accounts for 11% of the total American trade deficit alone . Walmart sells under .00002% of American produced goods . Walmart has its own overseas factories . Walmart is ripping off the entire world and your worried about a local making a couple of bucks to spend within the community ?
Give your money to Walmart and its gone forever . At least a local guy might spend that same money within the community and just maybe you will see that same dollar again !
walmart pays its own bills, not like the great usa run by gw bush

Bush was a rank amateur compared to Obama. That whooshing sound you hear in Congress is America's future being flushed down the toilet.

You had better research that notion , In most cases Walmart strong arms the local municipality into a deal that pays little or no property tax or building fees , Because if the local municipality does not concede the tax break , Walmart threatens to set up shop just outside their juristicion .

The government should only help those who help themselves also , The parasitical society we have now would rebuild .

Time will tell. I don't think it will be very long before Wally starts closing stores.

What's going to keep them in business if nobody has any money to shop there?

By promoting and participating in the system that eliminates American jobs, they have dug their own grave.

I can't wait for the super walmart the prices are so affordable and I can finally stretch out my money. You be amazed at what I spend with four in my family and when I lived in the south I shopped at the superwalmart there and saved tons of money. The other stores are a rip off and in this economic times we need something to help us stretch our money. As far as jobs are concerned I have heard from many people that Walmart actually pays their employees well and offers insurance. I have a friend who is disabled and he has been working for walmart for years and he gets all his meds at the $4 rate and insurance that takes care of all his medical and sugical needs. He has spina bifida and can barely walk but he works there and they are so nice to him, he loves working for them. Now that is my kind of store. One that cares and saves me money Come On Walmart!!

Wal-China is going to ruin the area. You think they pay people a descent ammount, then go work for them. Go ahead and make that minimum wage. We import everything, we dont export a damned thing. Wal-China is jst making it worse. They are no better then any terrorist. They are slowly destroying this country for their selfish greed.

Wow. Talk about resurrecting an aged thread!

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot happening at the proposed site so far. A few surveyor's flags.

Will the new Super-Wally sell guns?

If so, I might visit every 10 days or so...;)

Unbelievable. Is Butte County going to let Wal-Mart suck up the entire retail market?
This is disgusting and wrong.
Somebody needs to do something or we are going to lose hundreds of jobs in Paradise, Oroville and Chico when all the small businesses close.
Is this why we live here? Do we really want to be a Wal-Mart poster child?
Good grief.
I agree!

Why drive to Chico or Sacramento to buy higher quality items that are still made in China? Talk about messing up the environment, all that driving can't be helping our air. Also, why shop in smaller stores, pay twice as much for something that isn't quite what you wanted, also made in China, then after the compromise, driving somewhere else to buy what you wanted originally? I've done exactly this more times than I care to admit. A Super Center Walmart would at least give us some more choices. And who wouldn't prefer shopping in their own city when possible???!!! I know I would.
