Butte County sues property owners for illegal grading to grow marijuana

The Butte County Board of Supervisors announced today it is suing several property owners who allegedly performed illegal grading on their properties to cultivate marijuana.

The goal of the lawsuits is to have each property deemed a public nuisance and to require each owner to immediately remove all plants, structures and equipment from the grading sites.
Removing plants would leave the land subceptible to increased erosion as plant roots retain the soil.
