Erudite Hillbilly, can you say where you got the information on the location and how accurate it may be? I am a neighbor of that area, and when I read the story, I immediately thought of a particular house. Then I came to read the comments and my heart dropped. I just want to see if it really was that one or not. Thanks!

There is a Bonnie Dent that works for the schools in Oroville. I hope this isn't the same person!

If that house has a couple old junk cars out in front of it, is "down" off the road, and is on the top of the loop, that's the house but this is only "hear-say". I don't know why they are being so secretive with the address. If it is a bust in Southside, they are proud to mention it.

Thank You. I live on this street and as soon as I read the report I KNEW it had to be that house. I read in the Oroville Mirror that it was that house, they even had a picture of it.

Thanks again for the info!

Sarcasm is not a great factor in this story.. All that I saw when reading this article was how terribly sad and once again rediculous. Thes crankster gangsters and their disgusting and unnecessary contribution to our community and their chilren. Hopefully the children get placed somewhere and never given back to the meth making monster that was sent to distroy.

Huh? I read the same thing and thought it was straight forward, unvarnished, concise, "Just the facts Ma'am" journalism. Exactly what news reporting (imho) should be.

What did I miss? Why is it bad? How would you improve on it?

Dear The Way It Is,

1) I wasn't asking you.

2) I was not confused by the headline. Evidently people (like you) who jump to conclusions and who rarely read past headlines might have found it confusing.

3) In general news reporters do not write headlines, editors or (if they can afford it) headline writers usually are assigned that final form task. Headlines are meant to catch the reader's interest, not tell the story. I guess you don't get that. My sympathies.

4) There was nothing in the substance of the article that I found to be terrible writing. Neither was the headline terrible even if a few special needs people may have been inadvertently confused. Headlines cannot be expected to always reach for the lowest common denominator.

5) "I hate Every1" is not a twit but you (as you so well demonstrate daily) are indeed a juvenile and obnoxious (fill in the blank here).

6) As for tweaking, I leave that habit up to people like you who are so easily confused by headlines.

Are you saying Bonnie Dent was a driver for Oroville Schools & may have exposed kids on buses to school with meth ?! Was she as an employee under the influence of meth when behind the wheel transporting children? What's the latest on the minors taken into protective custody I wonder....hopefully placed with normal relatives who clear the CPS Homestudy check for placement of those neglected children. I wonder if they do medical tests to see how much 'exposure to meth' is in their lungs etc ? Does anyone know if this is done for children in these situations?!

Sorry for the confusion. I dont personally know what position she held in our Oroville schools. I only know that there is a bus driver out there that used to park in front of her house and stay a while. I can only assume what that bus driver was there for considering that was before she was busted. Maybe I shouldnt jump to conclusions but it bugs me that Bonnie Dent was in our school system and that this bus driver was more than likely getting his/her fix while there. There is no way that any one (not saying you did ;)) can say that she had a meth lab in her house but was not on meth herself. Where are the drug checks? What about the safety of our children? This woman should not have been in our schools.

They'll never get any random employee-wide implemented drug testing past the CSEA. Their membership (not member-base) is more important than the students.

If people saw a bus parked in front of somewhere that it shouldn't have been,.. then WHY wasnt' it reported? THIS is called reasonable suspicion and cause for drug testing. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck.. chances are,. it's a duck. This isnt a conicidence,.. if you see something that doenst look or feel right with you, there's probably a reason for it. Trust the gut. Make the call,.. it only takes one.

No drugs were found in Ms. Dent's system either. The individual who was found guilty was Matthew Webb, a male ex boyfriend of Ms. Dent with whom she made every attempt to leave, kick out, etc. He used scare tactics, threats, promises even physical pressure to instill fear into Ms. Dent.
Since all this has occurred, Mr. Webb admittted guilt to all the charges and stated his fault in causing her to fear for her life whenever she attempted to remove herself or her children from the situation. He was sentenced to 10 years State Prison time. Ms. Dent has and continues to attend any and all classes required as well as any additional classes she can so that she can improve the lives of her children and her own through education.
She takes full blame for what her children had to endure. I've known her for years and can say she has had to learn the hard way, but she will never stop trying for the sake of her children and herself.
We all make mistakes and some of us have to learn the hard way. We love you Bonnie. You have been an inspiration to many of us who have also made mistakes in the interest of helping someone else.
