Most cities became great over time. Daytona instead, has decayed beyond belief. Today the city is in shambles, crime, despair and widespread unemployment compete to castigate the local public. Some have benefited from the widespread corruption in Daytona Beach goverment but certainly not the local hard working Joes.

Harry Pepper, my grandfather who died several years ago, built the pool which I think got closed during the great depression. It was filled with salt water and attracted a few celebrities including Johnny Weismuller (sp?). This photo is terrific. Thanx

Wow! I was born in Daytona and didn't realize this pool was there. What years was it in existence? I remember this was the site of the Main Street Lifeguard Station and for awhile Big Daddy's Beachside.
