There are 8 comments on the Brattleboro Reformer story from Apr 18, 2009, titled Talking taxes. In it, Brattleboro Reformer reports that:

In a week where hundreds took to the Statehouse lawn to demand lower taxes -- while counterprotesters requested higher taxes for more social programs -- it comes as little surprise lawmakers focused their week on balancing Vermont's budget.

i hate paying taxes. why do we need to pay taxes for? why do we need the goverment? i got everything i need and i'd be a lot better off if i didnt have to give my money to the burocrats to waste on welfare bums and useless projects. the roads and bridges an stuff are already there, we dont need to be paying no more for that. we dont need to pay for cops and firemen if we got guns for pretection and a hose. the army is pretty much privatizd so they can fighte on there own. im gettin real sick of paying for taxes. i think the tea party shood be every day.

you tell em GFNB, we wouldn't want the elderly to have to use their own wealth to live off of, they would sooner go to the casino and apply for heating oil assistance because their $500,000 house is cold and those poor single mothers, got drunk and fell on their backs and some worthless bum fell on top of them and got them pregnant, they are victims as are their children and should be given quality housing along with everything Biff & Muffy get who worked hard to get an education & decent job so their kids could live a dedent life, those single mothers victims deserve the samething, it's unfair they don't get it just because they where out drinking in their teens & early 20's while Biff & Muffy where studying.

If you can't find a way in call pete or mike or jeanet our socialist state reps. in the OZ aka putney. there is free money for any one with a lame excuse or a good story of your plight. If there's no room they will get you a putney address . and the packet explains HOW TO GET FREE policies. the book is called THE PUTNEY WAY also available in the brat or windham version' NO TAX PAYERS PLEASE.

Reduce the size and scope of Montpeculiar. That is the real answer.

Furloughs? Yeah temporary fixes that will disappear next year.

But, all the little lifetime lib state employees, who have more and better benefits than any private sector employee in iur state will not go down without a fight, even while our state is overburdened with more and more of them every year, regardless of their lack of productivity for the benefit of those who pay their salary and lifetime benefits. How many thousands man the cubicles in Montpeculiar who do not really need to be there? Lets talk about some real change, not this temporary routine patch on the swelling dam of ever growing Montpeculiar spending.

Oh, and good attempt by the liar in chief, gfnb aka jstrap.

It's time to Vote all these Liberals out of your State.Make the Welfare people start picking up the Rest areas.Oh I forgot your lovely state closed them to save money. Way to go Shumlin put the burden on the Mom and Pops offthe Highway the state can't afford it but small business can.Typical Liberals you need toget them out. Why not make Welfare take Drug and Urin test once a month to get paid this would be a real savings. The working stiffs have to do this for employment so lets treat welfare like the rest of us.
