I wonder if the boyfriend of the mother will EVER be charged in the Hailey Dunn case?
Do they really not have enough evidence or did Casey Anthony getting away with her crimes make other prosecutors afraid to go to trial in cases like this?

This is a snippet of the interview. I only watched the first few seconds....anyone with even one good eye can immediately notice the Jodi actress is far younger than a 30ish woman. Meanwhile Jodi Arias is reported to have been locked up in jail now for over 5 years, eating greasy food, at least part of the time being housed in a tent camp toasting in the blazing summer Arizona sun.......and even after all that, now Jodi has the complexion of a teenager, yep, yep! LOL!

"The court asked if the parties would be willing to discuss a potential settlement," said Maricopa County Attorney spokesman Jerry Cobb. "Consistent with what the County Attorney has said all along, the State is always willing to discuss possible resolutions to the case. Neither side has presented an outline of an agreement or an official position to the court."

The settlement conference is scheduled for Oct. 24.

Cobb said the conference will be made in front of retired Maricopa County Superior Court Judge James Keppel.

The garbage that works it's way into becoming news is simply amazing!

A RETIRED Judge will be presiding. Very funny! Retired Judges in Arizona will be pleased to know they can walk back into a courtroom whenever they choose! Why do they bother with re-elections? LOL

How the Utah rock tumble is connected to Jodi Arias
Posted on: 6:31 pm, October 21, 2013, by CNN Wire
By Amanda Sloane
HLN
(CNN)— If you followed the Jodi Arias trial this year, you may have noticed a familiar face pop up on the video that captured a boulder in Utah being toppled over.

That’s right, your eyes weren’t deceiving you: It was Dave Hall, one of Travis Alexander’s good friends who spoke out regularly about the woman convicted of first-degree murder in May after stabbing, shooting and slitting the throat of the 30-year-old.
Now, Hall and two other men could be in big trouble for destroying the giant boulder, which was perched for many years atop a slender rock pedestal in southern Utah’s Goblin Valley State Park. The three men say the balancing boulder, which was created over millions of years by windblown dust and moving water, posed a threat to visitors.

But it’s against the law to deface state parks, so now the men could face time behind bars.

Hall is the guy behind the camera who sings “Wiggle it, just a little bit” as Glenn Taylor pushes the boulder over. At one point, Hall turns the camera around on himself — and this isn’t the first time he has appeared in the national spotlight.

Throughout the Arias trial, Hall appeared numerous times on HLN to talk about the life and legacy of his friend Alexander and to paint an unflattering picture of his killer.

“There was just something really weird about (Jodi Arias), and when she spent time with you, you even got more creeped out,” Hall told HLN’s Nancy Grace in January.“Just the way she acted in our home. The way that she had this awkward silence about her. The way that she just had no soul. You could almost see through her. It’s not someone you could sit down with and have a conversation. She was very mysterious.”

Hall saw Arias just hours after she killed Alexander in his Mesa, Arizona, home on......

<snip>

Hall, along with the other two Boy Scout leaders involved in the boulder incident, are under investigation, according to Utah State Parks spokesman Eugene Swalberg.

“It gives you a pit in your stomach. There seems to be a lot of happiness and joy with the individuals doing this, and it’s not right. This is not what you do at a natural scenic area,” Swalberg told CNN.

A few days after the incident, Hall told KUTV that he’d “absolutely” do it again because the boulder — known locally as a goblin — had been unstable.“That wasn’t going to last very long at all,” he told the HLN affiliate.“One gust of wind, and a family’s dead.”

“We have now modified Goblin Valley; a new Goblin Valley exists,” Hall can be heard saying on the video, shot October 11.“That’s crazy that it was held up just by that little bit of dirt. Some little kid was about ready to walk down here and die, and Glenn saved his life by getting the boulder out of the way. So it’s all about saving lives here at Goblin Valley. Saving lives. That’s what we’re all about.”

Judge closes Arias settlement conference to public, media

PHOENIX (CBS5)-
A judge has ruled that the public and media will not be allowed at a settlement conference Oct. 24 in the trial of convicted murderer Jodi Arias.

Judge Sherry Stephens issued the written order Monday morning, citing intense media coverage in her ruling.

"The court finds there is a compelling interest that overcomes the right of public access," Stephens said in her ruling.....

What's rather intriguing about a closed settlement conference is that it also seals any settlement agreed to.

Jodi Arias murder trial stories
PHOENIX -- No deal was struck during Thursday's settlement conference for Jodi Arias, according to Maricopa County Attorney's Office spokesman Jerry Cobb.

The case is proceeding to the retrial penalty phase.

Lawyers on both sides of the Arias case were in court for the closed-door meeting as they tried to work out a settlement that could have put an end to one of the most-watched murder trials in history.

After more than four months of testimony, a jury convicted Arias of first-degree murder in May. While they found her eligible for the death penalty, they could not unanimously agree to sentence her to it.

Since then, prosecutors and Arias' defense team have been preparing to retry the penalty phase. Arias' first-degree murder conviction is not at issue -- only her sentence."

Jodi Arias, who has been convicted of first-degree murder in the 2008 death of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, but has not yet been sentenced, filed motions in Maricopa County Superior Court this week to fire her main defense attorney.

Arias said Tuesday in a 12-page handwritten narrative that her lead attorney, Kirk Nurmi, had not seen her since May23, the day the jury reached an impasse on whether to sentence her to life or death. She claimed that she attempted to fire him in June, as well, but Judge Sherry Stephens did not grant her request.

According to the court website, the Motion filed Tuesday is a request for transcripts for the Settlement Conference that was supposed to have been a closed hearing. The public is certainly being led down a path by the media in this case. No reports as to the nature of the ruling made the day prior either.

Jodi Arias files motion to fire main defense attorney

Jodi Arias wants to fire her lead defense attorney.

In the 12-page handwritten document, Arias says attorney Kirk Nurmi hasn't seen her since May 23.

That's when Phoenix jurors reached an impasse on whether to sentence her to life in prison or death for the 2008 murder of boyfriend Travis Alexander.

Arias wrote that Nurmi "has little to no tolerance for my emotional and psychological shortcomings" and she no longer trusts him. The Arizona Republic first reported on the filing.

She also tried to fire him in June, but Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens didn't grant her request.

Nurmi hasn't returned several calls seeking comment.

Arias was in court Thursday for a settlement conference. The court says no agreement was reached and the case was referred back to Stephens.

Arias has another hearing scheduled for Nov. 1.

Judge denies Arias motion to fire defense attorney

— A judge in Phoenix has denied Jodi Arias' request to fire her lead attorney.

Judge Sherry Stephens of Maricopa County Superior Court issued a brief order saying she explained her reasons for the denial during a closed-door hearing Friday.

Arias had said in a 12-page handwritten document that she no longer trusts attorney Kirk Nurmi and that he hadn't seen her since May 23. That's when jurors reached an impasse on whether Arias should be sentenced to life in prison or death for the 2008 killing of boyfriend Travis Alexander.

Stephens previously denied a request by Arias to fire Nurmi in June.

Inside the crime lab that analyzed the Jodi Arias case
by Carey Pena

PHOENIX -- A bloody crime scene. A murdered man. And a mystery that caught the nation’s attention.

The pictures told the story of Travis Alexander’s final hours after he was stabbed and shot by Jodi Arias.

“It came down to, at that crime scene, documenting that scene. You don’t know what’s important. But visually, it’s your one chance to see what’s in the scene,” said Kimberly Fiorucci, Administrator of Mesa Forensic Services.

The crime scene investigators who documented – in graphic detail – what happened inside Alexander’s home back in June of 2008 work at the Mesa crime lab that Fiorucci is in charge of.

<snip>

But Fiorucci points out, their job is not to solve the case for police or prosecutors. Their job is to find what the science shows.

Interesting. Just one thing I'm not quite clear about ......

Crime scene investigators work at the Mesa crime lab --- and this interview further suggests the Mesa Crime Lab provides a service to police or prosecutors....so what part of the government hierarchy does the Mesa Crime Lab fall under or is it a private company contracted by Mesa to perform forensic work?

Convicted killers get away with producing and selling "murderabilia"

MCSO is in charge of Arias. She's in his jail, on lock down 23 hours a day, but in that one free hour, she can make phone calls, send out her tweets through a third person and she is also free to send out as much artwork as she likes.

We asked the Sheriff and County Attorney Bill Montgomery about their thoughts on Arias selling artwork.

"Your phone call to us, we've looked into it a little bit deeper and got the County Attorney involved and we were told there was nothing here right now that indicates a violation of the law," said Jones.

So the County Attorney is not going to stop Jodi's online art sales and nobody knows where that money is going or if Travis Alexander's family can go after it.

The amounts of money involved seeming to surprise even Jodi herself.

Back in May, she stated, "It's interesting... I take pride not in the price tag.. but in the gift itself."

In a world where someone might buy Charles Manson's half eaten burrito for $500 and with Jodi Arias apparently not breaking any law, you can bet she will continue to produce and sell her artwork for years to come.

Judge: New Jodi Arias jury will not be sequestered

http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/11/15/jodi-...

The jurors who will decide whether Jodi Arias will die via lethal injection or spend the rest of her life in prison at her upcoming retrial will not be sequestered, Judge Sherry Stephens ruled this week.

Read more: Jodi Arias retrial: What you need to know

Arias' retrial will only apply to the penalty phase of her case. Twelve jurors already found Arias guilty on May 8 of killing her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in June 2008. Alexander was found stabbed multiple times, shot once in the head and his throat was slit from ear to ear.

During the trial's aggravation phase, those same jurors found that Arias acted "in a cruel manner," but in the penalty phase, they couldn't reach a unanimous decision about whether she should be executed or life in prison.

If the new jurors cannot reach an unanimous decision, Stephens will decide whether Arias will get life without parole or life with the eligibility of parole after 25 years.

truTV: Women executed in America

Arias' retrial is expected to take place early next year, and the potential publicity surrounding the proceedings has been a source of concern for the defense.

In her ruling Wednesday denying the defense's request for sequestration, Stephens said one reason she would not sequester the jury is because she granted the defense’s motion to ban live TV coverage of the retrial. However, she is permitting reporters to attend the proceedings, and one still camera photographer will be allowed in the courtroom.

“The Court expects there will be significantly less media coverage of the case during the retrial of the penalty phase. As noted by the State in its response, much of the media interest in the case was generated by the defendant contacting media outlets. Defendant now claims she cannot receive a fair sentencing phase retrial because of the media interest in her case and wants the jury sequestered for the duration of the sentencing phase retrial,” wrote Stephens.“The Court finds the interests of justice do not require sequestration of the jury of the sentencing phase retrial in this case.”

Read more: So, Jodi Arias has a book club

In the same ruling, Stephens also denied the defense’s motion for a change of venue. Therefore, the retrial will take place at Maricopa County Courthouse in Arizona like Arias’ first trial.

Stephens also denied the defense’s request to individually question potential jurors during jury selection. Candidates will be questioned in groups of 10 for approximately 45 minutes, but she will allow individual questioning if a dispute regarding a potential juror cannot be resolved.

Yeah ha! A step back in time where the slant from various reporters getting interviewed on the courthouse steps becomes the sole news source of what occurred in the courtroom. We know how that worked in the Casey Anthony trial - she was convicted to death prior to the acquittal!

I notice no one is reporting the Judge's rationale. If video cameras impede the right to a fair trial, then the Judge would have issued an outright publicity ban. I wouldn't doubt that she did, considering I notice more sealing of documents appearing in the court rule on October 31, 2013. Oh well, the show most go on!

Rule 122
c. Electronic and still photographic coverage of public judicial proceedings other than the proceedings specified in paragraph (a) above may be permitted in the discretion of the judge giving due consideration to the following factors:
The impact of coverage upon the right of any party to a fair trial;
The impact of coverage upon the right of privacy of any party or witness;
The impact of coverage upon the safety and well-being of any party, witness or juror;
The likelihood that coverage would distract participants or would detract from the dignity of the proceedings;
The adequacy of the physical facilities of the court for coverage;
The timeliness of the request pursuant to subsection (f) of this Rule; and
Any other factor affecting the fair administration of justice.
c. The judge may limit or prohibit electronic or still photographic coverage only after making specific, on-the-record findings that there is a likelihood of harm arising from one or more of the above factors that outweighs the benefit to the public of camera coverage.

<snip>

i. Individual journalists may use their personal audio recorders in the courtroom, but such usage shall not be obtrusive or distracting and no changes of tape or reels shall be made during court sessions. In all other respects, news reporters or other media representatives not using cameras or electronic equipment shall not be subject to these guidelines.
