I would guess that much was made of this kid's Disney employment because Disney is a place folks take their kids, and the park is usually overrun with children of all ages. I wonder if Disney has ever thought about running background checks before they hire an individual. Granted, nothing would probably have shown up on this kid, but it is a good idea, especially when involvement with kids is part of the job.

Unfortunately, many people only read the headline- or, at best, skim the article. The result is that many people will 'assume' that this event occurred on WDW property. Can this deliberate twist by the Sentinel be construed as libel?

Disney does background checks. You were correct, unless someone has been arrested and convicted, nothing will show up on a BC.
Again, I think there is more to this story. The police went right to his apartment to pick her up.Apparently the Mom knew she left with the boy.

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty and why is it that Disney already terminated this guy w/o waiting for the result of a fair trial. Looks like Slantinel and Disney are the same now.

We were just talking about all of the perverts out at Disney just a few days ago. (That was when Disney stuck it to the guy who brought his gun on the property). I guess its OK to have child molestors but not law abiding gun owners on Disney property. 'Sure am glad I turned down their lousy job offer years ago.

Theoretically, an 18 year old and a 14 year old can be in high school at the same time. You're talking less than a four year difference in age. This is getting very out of hand, all so these Sheriffs and police chiefs can make a name for themselves.

This kid is going to be branded for life and for what? Had he been 17, nobody would have bothered him...

As a physician it just scares the bejeebers out of me that just about anyone can claim I did anything at anytime and I'll be in the news as a sex offender and my license revoked. You would think they would have learned something from what they did to Dr. George Gant, whose "persecution" died for lack of evidence yet lost his reputation and license to practice medicine. The real victims are becoming the falsely accused.

What a sensationalized misleading headline. We are supposed to picture a middle-aged pedaphile, instead it is a teenage boy who showed poor judgement.

I am in agreement with some other posters... More to the story. I am thinking that these kids have a relationship and the girl got caught sneaking out to be with him. That's why the story changed from 'out with friends' to 'at his apartment'.

Under the letter of the law, the girl's deposition makes this kid guilty. He's over 18; he touched a girl under 18. I think most companies would cut him loose, not just WDW. Unfortunately, the law does not allow for these types of circumstances. I'd say the vast majority of guys out there dated someone under the age of majority after they themselves had turned 18.

Please read carefully. He only worked at Disney. It did not happen at Disney. How would anyone know UNLESS he had a record? You boycott Disney all you want. Things like this are happening all the time every where. Disney just has the name that this paper like use...a lot even when there is no reason to even mention the name Disney.

This is a perfect example of my previous post about people who only read headlines. "Arrested AT Disney"? Please read the article before you offer an opinion.

That Disney name sure does catch their eye. I guess it did the trick. Darn shame the paper resorts to this for their reading pleasure.

I think the mother and the police have inflated this whole situation to the point of mass scandle (Disney worker) and a scared 14 year old girl. They could have got her to say anything!!!

... and I used to wonder how Americans put up with the Salem Witch Trials. I guess one day our descendants will chuckle about our Turn-of-the Century Age-Difference Trials.

I think it would be an excellent idea to question jurors as to what the age differential is between themselves and their spouse.
