I zoomed in on that intersection on mapquest and I have a Q. Why are the stop lights mounted so far past the intersection..? Why wasn't a wire ran across the intersection so the lights were mounted in the middle of the intersection..? That may explain why 50 red-lite citation were issued in 1 day..!!

The fact that this driver ran a red light and slammed into a semi who had the green light seems curiously buried in the article. I might have been inclined to headline the article "Red Light Runner Causes Wreck, Is Killed, Passenger Murdered in Wreck".
But anyway, the streets are safer today as a result.
I do agree with you! the reporter does give his article a headline that would imply that a tractor trailer was at fault instead of stating the obvious.
Just another far left reporter employed by the sentinel

The answer to all the fatal crashes is to raise the driving age. Has anyone noticed that most of the fatal accidents involve drivers 17 - 20 years old?
Involve spanish drivers 17 - 20 years old?

Your upset we understand that.
But this was not an accident.
This was an on purpose.
The driver of the SUV chose to drive through the red light.
The red light didn't pull him through.

Ok. This whole article is very very sad. The comment you responded to was very very sad. Your last sentence, however, made me laugh out loud.

It is very sad that most of the people wished death & ill will on another person. People do make mistakes and I am sure that you have made one yourself. Should you die because you made a mistake? Think about what you say before you say it. I was thinking I was going to read comments wishing best wishes to the family for their loss, but no..you read very hateful comments. You can not honestly say that you have NEVER made a mistake in driving or have always stayed the speed limit, didn't pass someone illegally, didn't ride someone else's bumper because they were going to slow for you. Really think about what you say before saying it. The world has so much hatred, why do you add on to it? Why do you have so much hate in your heart to wish something bad upon someone that did not affect your life in anyway? I think the family and friends of these fine young gentlemen, whose life is already cut short because of a bad judgement, are going to suffer enough and really do not need negative comments. All the people that made hateful and hurtful comments should put the shoe on your foot and think if it was your family member that ran the red light, and ask yourself, do you want to be told things what you have said?

I don't think you have it right.
Most people do not wish harm on anyone.
Not even a red light runner.
What they do cheer about (that really isn't a good word but I'll let it stand) is that the red light runner only hurt or kill either themselves and or the people in THEIR vehicle only!
The reason for that is the other driver's are tired of being the Victim of the red light runner.

Again it's not the driver's who get caught out running a light that turns red just as they enter the intersection, it's the driver's who enter the intersection long after the light is glowing RED.
They are the dangerous ones as exemplified in this crash.
And someone paid the ultimate price because a red light runner didn't fell like stopping.
A totally unnecessary, avoidable accident.
AVOIDABLE

Yes......While you're trying to talk your way out of the situation they're kicking your head in.

Why do you ask? Do you turn around and walk away like a good little boy.
