Someone at the top needs to learn who to condense. There was no room to reply.

In the last 65 years, dozens of 12-step groups have been founded based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, including Debtors Anonymous, Emotions Anonymous, Clutterers Anonymous, Workaholics Anonymous, Sex Addicts Anonymous, Incest Survivors Anonymous, Parents Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Shoplifters Anonymous, Child Abusers Anonymous, and Nicotine Anonymous as well as Overeaters Anonymous. Though these programs vary widely in focus, they all use the disease model. They all advocate admitting that one is powerless over the problem at hand, be it nicotine, shoplifting, or household clutter, and believe that only through admitting this powerlessness and asking for the help of God or some version of a "higher power" can one get better.

There needs to be a new model. Telling people they are sick and will never be cured is OLD SCHOOL. Any suggestions to for new material?

What's wrong with you?

Though I've never been through a 12-step program or an "anonymous" program....I've known many people who have. Most have come through better people and lived happier and more fulfilling lives.

You obviously disagree with those approaches to addiction recovery.

This is your opportunity to suggest something better.

Shoot!!

I've just seen people put "the program" above spending time with their family and friends. Some even go as far as to divorce their spouses if they are not "working a program" and divorcing siblings and other family members who won't get on the band wagon. I'm not saying it does not work for some. I'm saying there needs to be a workable alternative.

Guys use the groups to meet vulnerable women. Women use the groups for cheap therapy. You can donate a dollar and be good to go or you can donate nothing and provide service.

I don't like giving out information to a public forum. It's kind of like that thing where people can look up your pics and geolocate where they were taken from which means weirdos can get your home address if you aren't aware enough to turn it off if taking pics from a phone.
Don't worry.. No one here except for trolls try to get or post any info here. This thread is mostly just place for make believe and sharing general things..If some one asks for personal stuff tell 'em to take a long walk off a short pier, and get back to me in the mornin".

Take this somewhere else. This is supposed to be a fun general discussion. Nothing serious. start your own thread for serious stuff.

Hey. Life on the pond is great. The weather has been absolutely wonderful this whole summer. Not too much heat, soft showers, and plenty of food for the critters.. We have a nice healthy deer herd. I enjoy watching the babies play, And the otter family is also fun. We'll need to start storing away food for the critters for the winter.

How was your Labor Day?

Psssst. We don't feed trolls...lmao.

Great. We took a "staycation" in St. Augustine. We were in the historical district, is we parked the car when we first got to the hotel and walked everywhere the whole time we were there except when we went to the Lightner Museum. That was just to far a walk. They have a trolley system but I really didn't care for it. That museum was the exception. It really is a beautiful place and if you're into history, worth going to. This was our second time and they had opened more exhibits since we'd been there.

The pond here, is the same. Lots of ducks. We have quite a few wild turkey and their little broods waddling around after them, here. It's kinda funny to watch when they take a detour through the back yard. One of these days, I'll have my phone handy and get some pictures of the little guys. One momma has about seven of them. Sad to say, but they usually don't have that many survive to be full grown .

Not in the least!!! Why would you think such a thing? Your mind apparently takes you to "nether regions", but that's your right, mullet.

LOL
