Headline reads: Woman killed in turnpike crash identified
However: Baez was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she is in stable condition.
Your paper makes my head hurt.

You need to re-read the article. Ms. Baez was not killed, she was the driver. Her passenger, Vanessa Cruz, was killed at the scene. There is really nothing confusing about this article. My heart goes out to the family of Ms. Cruz.

The PASSENGER died -- the headline refers to her. Maybe you should take some aspirin and reread the story.

Really ...

Let's break this story down paragraph by paragraph...

1)The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the driver in a fatal car crash that occurred on Florida's Turnpike this afternoon.

OK, so the FHP has indentified the DRIVER in a fatal crash...

2) At about 1:55 p.m., Amanda Baez, 18, of Miami, was driving northbound on the turnpike just north of Clermont when her 2007 Nissan Versa swerved into the median. Baez overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, which spun across the median and came to rest facedown in the middle of the southbound lane, according to Sgt. Jorge Delahoz of the Florida Highway Patrol.

OK, Ms. Baez "was driving" ...

3) The car's other occupant, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Baez was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she is in stable condition. Both Baez and her passenger were wearing their seatbelts, Delahoz said.

OK. Ms. Baez (the driver) is not the fatality ... her yet un-named passenger did, however, die in the crash....

4) No charges have been filed, but speeding and careless driving contributed to the crash, Delahoz said.

So where the "why wasn't she wearing a seatbelt!?" crowd? Belts aren't magic. They help, but safe driving helps more.

"Both Baez and her passenger were wearing their seatbelts, Delahoz said."

Referring to the position of the car after the accident- What does 'face down' mean? I did not know cars had faces.

This kind of stupidity is why people like you should stay off the Sentinel blogs where the more intelligent readers want to see input worth while!

Ditto for my last comment in applying to E Vey above from Clermont. I apologize to this insensitive, ignorant, uneducated bigot. That is someone's child and SHE wasn't even driving! What's wrong with, you jerk?

I love how your name is Reader when you obviously didn't read the whole article.
