About 50 cabdrivers protested working conditions they compared with "slavery" on Monday, driving in a caravan down Interstate 4 before demonstrating in front of Orlando City Hall. Full Story

Dude you can't even formulate a sentence correctly. What is this "did you ask you easy it is"?
The girl up front you are refering to is probably Carla, and she's been there for years. She probably knows more about city taxi laws then you'll ever know. Why not let us know the name of your company if you're legal? I'm hoping someone from code enforcement is reading this, they'll remember all your insults, especially the one about you parking at church street and knowing them all on a name basis.
You know Anon my guess is you are some immigrant from the middle east. Your family probably gave you some money to come here and and it afforded you a business. Now you think you've got us Americans all figured out. Now am I right?
Wait you said you talked to them she would have said her name. SO I
Just caught you in a lie big boy. Carla is no longer in charge of or works for vehicle for hire hasn't been for over a year now. They moved the vehicle for hire to orlando court house where the police department is. Now everyone knows you are a liar big time

Sorry twit I am more american than you can ever be. I am half native american. Take your racist moron self and go play with mears in traffic. The above reason is why I won't say my company name liars and a@@holes like you are why.

I am so impressed that ll you could come up with is my spelling errors. Score one for gil I guess his Dad gets to receive tonight

Once again you are putting word's in my mouth. I said " the girl up front you are refering to is PROBABLY Carla". And in your earlier post you assumed that I talked with the girl up front. I never once said I talked with her. Once again proving you are wrong!!!! The evidence is here for everybody to review, so my recomendation to you is drop this whole subject and move on! If Mears is reading this they will never send you any business.
Now I'm the one supporting the Hatian driver protest in this blog and you are the one deriding it. Let's get this part straight aren't you the racist communist/socialist?

Lord Have Mercy because you already mentioned the name of your company is related to your user name, duh?? did you forget that part of our conversation already?

You know Anon when someone shows me that I'm wrong on something I will admit it. I've noticed that many men would rather retain their macho superman image then admit any errors. Nobody here is perfect and I'm willing to admit I was wrong to insult your intelligence. I'm sure you are a nice person, just a little confused about what the issues are here. Have a Nice Day!!!(would insert smiley face, but sentinel doesn't offer that option)

That's a lot of talk about some girl named Carla when it comes to taxis. The reality is Mears is a business, just like anyone else's. The fact they load two cabs at OIA, then another two cabs from other companies is based on how many permits the company has and it is setup by OIA, not Mears. Mears is the only one who has the ability to staff the starters at the airport. You cannot rely on fly-by-night "gypsies" or the small 15-cab companies.
Whether you be a past driver or a current one, working for a company who gives you the opportunity of more contracted stands, regular callers, and a computer dispatched system does nothing but work in *your* favor.
City rates go up, cab rates go up. You haven't seen the rates go up on the city bus? No one is complaining because the bus driver isn't directly reflected.
These drivers are independent contractors who *made* the decision to work with Mears. Just like servers, you have bad days & you have good days. You have to weigh those to understand if you still want to be a driver with them.
Yes, it's the biggest cab company. Yes, it's has multiple fleets over three counties. Yes, it has the most permits. That's because it chose to keep expanding. It bought more permits, so it could hire more drivers, to keep it's contracted stands full and regular customers picked up.
In what way do you not agree with good business?

Most of the people posting on this topic must not even be drivers in central Florida. You spend a lot of time argueing when the avage taxi driver doesn't even have time to check their email. I work 80-90 weeks to make my money as a cab driver.
I feel sorry for the mears taxi drivers. They work Monday through Saturday for their gas and lease. Sunday is what they bring home. And we are not talking 8 hour shifts. 16 hours of consecutive working is NOT unheard of. What do you think the Mears weekly's do they work like dogs
