First of all, good luck meeting at Englewood Park. I hope you don't get shot.

Second, you are probably spending more money on supplies and feed than it would cost you to buy some cage-free eggs from the store.

As the first poster said, if you want to be a leetle farmer, move out of the city.

Property rights, you don't have no "steenkin" property rights in the US. You merely rent the land from the county, whether you think you own it or not. If you think you actually own property, try not paying your rent, er I mean "taxes" for a couple years and see where that gets you.

With the continuing Obama economic "stimulus" plan, very soon we will all have to start raising chickens and growing our own food just to survive..........

I live in Debary and I have 3 chickens and one obnoxious rooster named Sherman Tank. (He is crowing as I type.) We don't eat the eggs, though. I could help by taking the chickens but not the ducks. Don't want them in my pool. :)

WTF are you on? The last 30 days? The last 30 days? How the hell about the last 8 years, hater. You're a smartie--wonder why we didn't elect you or someone like you as president. Oh yeah, you're a moron.
Thr last 8 years of prosperity were amazingly good. People drove around in Escalades and Yukon Denalis. People had laptops, ipods, jewelry and gold chains during the Bush era.

During the Bush era people drove around with expensive 22 inch rims on their cars and had so much money that "grills" (gold and jewelry that you put in as teeth") came into fashion. And the dumbest people you know bought $300,000.00 houses.
The Bush era was an age of prosperity.

Yes! The law should be changed. Many communities allow chickens, but not roosters. This solves the noise problem.
Why are chickens any worse than the doberman my neighbor has who barks all day and leaves smelly piles all over the place?

As a youngster who grew up during the end of the depression and while we were fighting for our lives on two fronts in WW2, outcome far from certain may I second the motion not to take rights away from homeowners ANYWHERE, city or county.

Everything was rationed. Everyone who could raised chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese, turkeys. Everyone was urged to plant a "Victory Garden". We had chickens, rabbits and a nice garden right in Orlando and thank God we did. My Dad hunted ducks, doves, quail, whatever he could find. He fished salt water and fresh water and we always had food on the table. Thank God we did. You little fairies who grew up with silver spoons up your rectums and never knew anything but buying "ready to cook", "ready to eat" everything in the supermarket haven't a G*D clue as to what might be coming just around the corner. You might be hunting squirrels along the road if things get really rough. When more and more lose their jobs and there aren't jobs anywhere of any kind and no money to go to the store if you could find food to buy, you will be damned glad for whatever you can kill and clean or pick out of the ground or off of a tree. Talk to older people who lived for a while and not so much these Twinkies who don't know a damned thing about anything. NO NEW LAWS AGAINST ANYTHING! Use your heads for a change.

It's obvious there are a lot of people ignorant about poultry. A few hens are FAR less obnoxious than any backyard dog...they make less noise and smell much better. Roosters are a different story...too loud for neighborhood settings.
Orange and Seminole counties should look at the chicken friendly laws in Portland, OR.

it is amazing the hate and disrespect to people when writing on these forums. You have the right to speech but do it respectfully. This financial crisis started when President Bush decided he wanted to invade Irak and with Chaney's accomplice, gave millions of $s in contracts to the companys both have shares on. Do not forget that oil companys had the greatest gains of all past 10 years under President Bush who himself has oil shares. I wonder how much more he has given to us, the people and last but not least, how he took advantage of the people in foreclosure, by buying a $10millions house for just $2.5Millions in a place that only white people can live??? I wonder why?

Have to agree with Dale & BoOviedo, dogs are worse than chickens. Code enforcement does little about barking dogs or owners who refuse to clean their poop-filled backyards, but, they'll go after several hens...?

And what's with the island comments? This is still America isn't it?
