Kind of hypocritical to be a driving drunk and speeding when you are a police officer.

Myy goodness, I am sad, I have always, been told that Orange Cty. Sherriffs did not ever drink!
They can hassel a person for drinking a beer, and not even driving but they are, as they say, better than anyone else!

Gee...what a disgrace for law enforcement.
Then again, the high ranks need to set and example.
You hear that Mr. Beary...

it's a bad thing the guy lost his life, but these 'pocket rockets' should be outlawed. a lot of guys drive at such excessive speeds, it is dangerous. they speed near our home at over 100 mph on a straight smooth stretch in the road. 2 years ago 1 ran the light and impaled himself into a car, killing himself and the driver of the car.

so combine the lethal capabilities of the speed along with impaired reflexes caused by alcohol, and you have a loaded, cocked weapon.

As they say? You are the same one that writes things about what they do all day and so forth..what are you a stalker? You know everything about EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.. Whatever, get over yourself. This guy was wrong and if he lived should be punished but don't lump them all in one stupid! Police can drink, but have to abide by the same laws..unlike this guy did. As for hasseling downtown..there are LAWS that PUNKS down there don't follow..grow up loser! I have never EVER had an issue downtown..and I am GLAD they are there to put PUNKS in their place or remove them from the area..they need to tase more of these morons down there...sounds like YOU would be one of those idiots down there causing problems just to cause problems with them.... You are always making stupid anti police comments...

Hahahaha. Thanks for the laugh.

How about the jerks that turn left in front of bikes?

Like the Subaru that did that to me in '92? Fortunately I was driving a big heavy bike and it went into the passenger compartment and crushed the driver's husband's pelvis. Hopefully having her husband in a wheelchair will help her remember to look where she's going next time.

On top of many citizens that believe they are above the law all the time....The cop makes news because it isn't the norm..that is why we get feed when a cop does something from another state even...it isn't the NORM..unlike many citizens out there..that do things wrong OVER AND OVER AND OVER thinking they are above the law and will even FIGHT a police officer as they THINK they are above the law...

...Pizzing on this guy's grave ain't real bright. Nor does it say much for the character and mentality of the Blabbers who are doing it, gleefully. Deputy Long was also an honorable veteran of the United States Marine Corps...Clearly, he made a big mistake, was flat-out wrong when he drove drunk. But he paid the price, gave himself the death penalty. He doesn't deserve sneering ridicule now--Especially not from those of you who dwell in glass houses...

How many times previously has this guy drove drunk and got away with it because he was a LEO and "brother" officer?

Or does everybody believe this was the first time. An out of caracter mistake, right?

Thank you for posting that statement. I ride and a guy turned in front of me and totaled my bike, sending me skidding on my elbows across two lanes of traffic. I was VERY blessed that day. SLOW DOWN PEOPLE!

I agree that there are plenty of citizens out there who think they can do whatever they want. But, it doesn't help matters when there are too many police officers who violate the very laws they are supposed to be enforcing (driving under the influence, speeding, reckless driving, to name a few). I see it way too often and it sure gives the message to the punks and thugs out there that if the police don't follow the rules, why should they? I'm not saying all police are that way, but they should all be law abiding themselves and set an example.
