A Hoke County preschooler was fed chicken nuggets for lunch because a state worker felt that her homemade lunch did not have enough nutritional value, according to a report by the Carolina Journal.

The West Hoke Elementary School student was in her More at Four classroom when a state agent who was inspecting lunch boxes decided that her packed lunch — which consisted of a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, apple juice and potato chips —“did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines,” the Journal reports.

The decision was made under consideration of a regulation put in place by the the Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services, which requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs to meet USDA guidelines.

“When home-packed lunches do not include all of the required items, child care providers must supplement them with the missing ones,” the Journal reports.

The student’s mother told the Journal she received a note from the school about the incident and was charged $1.25 for the cafeteria tray, from which her daughter only ate three chicken nuggets.

The note explained how students who did not bring “healthy lunches” would be offered the missing portions and that parents could be charged for the cost of the cafeteria food, the Journal reports.

The mother, who was not identified in the report, expressed concern about school officials telling her daughter that she wasn’t “packing her lunch box properly.”

A-HOLES RUNNING THAT SCHOOL.

The parents know what their preshooler will eat, even if it's not '100%' completely nutritious.
How many cans of Spaghetti-O's did we eat as kids?
How many millions of Yodels and Gummi Bears have kids eaten as dessert in school?

Now, instead of the kid eating their packed lunch, they ate three stinking processed nuggets.

How's that for a kid getting 'proper nutrirtion'?

My question is, other than the potato chips what’s wrong with a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana and apple juice
This is the obama administration doing this it says that it didn't meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines

Im glad the mother is going public with it

They would have had one crazed mama on their hands if they'd tried that with any of my kids! My kids got a treat with every lunch. What they didn't get, EVER, was processed crap like chicken nuggets!!! Do you know they press the ENTIRE chicken through a grinder to make those things? Yeah, beaks, buttholes and guts, ALL are thrown in, then processed, treated with dye and shaped into nuggets, fingers, and patties. I wouldn't let my kids eat them on a bet! Oh, I'm sure they got some at some point at a friend's house, but they sure never got fed that crap at home, nor were they allowed to eat fast food when they were young. They weren't happy all the time when they weren't allowed to go to McDonald's, but we always took them out to nice restaurants and they developed a taste for REAL food. In the case of my eldest son, he was eating whole lobsters at about 5 years old and would have ordered 3 or 4 if we'd let him! Kids WILL eat good food if you expose them to it. Anyway, that food service nitwit needs to be fired.

What exactly was the chicken nuggets suppose to be supplementing? She had turkey on her sandwich. Or was that not enough meat? What if she was a vegetarian? Are they going to force feed all the vegan children chicken nuggets?

What is wrong with our schools?????

Vegan children? There's a case where I'd say that the schools SHOULD intervene. We certainly don't need any more pasty looking vegans running around!!! Children need high quality protein and dairy for growth, particularly bone growth. Any parent who makes their kid eat a vegan diet is guilty of neglect. But NO kid should be eating that processed chicken crap, heck no adult should eat that garbage!

Figures you would support ABORTION, but not support a parent's right to choose what kind of diet to feed their kid. Now, I am not saying it is okay to nutritionally deprive your child, but there are plenty of responsible vegetarian parents. And here I thought you were suppose to be Pro-CHOICE.

Anybody else find this odd?

I support a WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE. I do not support nutritionally depriving an ACTUAL child (which is entirely different than a blob of cells despite your sentimentalized opinion) of nutrients needed for growth. Better that the vegan wacko should abort if her plan is to starve the kid to death when it's actually a child.

Oh, and vegetarian and vegan are two different things. I think the basic problem with you is that you're not very smart, just emotionally driven and mouthy.

Definition of VEGAN (Per Merriam-Webster Dictionary
:a strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products; also : one who abstains from using animal products

Yep, two TOTALLY separate things entirely! LOL! You did get the mouthy part right at least.

Apparently they needed something from the "fried" food group.

Where I live, they decided to take out all of the candy, chips, and sodas from the machines. Great. No problem. And then....every single day the teachers are selling candy bars to raise funds for various things. Sometimes it is for a club, but sometimes it's the individual teacher raising money for her/his classroom supplies.

Your ignorance is showing again. A vegetarian eats no MEAT. They typically DO consume dairy, eggs, sometimes fish. A vegan consumes NO animal products including dairy and eggs. Educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself again. It is possible to get enough protein and calcium into a child on a vegetarian diet. It is very unlikely that a child would receive enough of either on a vegan diet for optimal growth.

Apparently someone missed the part where VEGETARIAN is literally IN the definition for vegan.

DOH!

Good god, you're stupid. How do you get across the street by yourself???? I've already explained the difference to you, and I tried to use small words because I know you're dumb. Perhaps you should talk to a vegetarian (not a vegan). Most would be very offended to be deemed the same as the nutcase vegans. In any case, I doubt you'll understand what THEY tell you, either, cause you're STTTTTTUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPIIIIIDD DDDDD. Of course, you're the same person who thinks that human cells equals human being and probably names their fingernail clippings.

North Carolina reporter Sara Burrows broke the story about the four-year-old whose home-packed lunch didn’t meet the USDA’s guidelines. She appeared on Fox today with Megyn Kelly. According to Burrows, the inspector who ruled against the four-year-old’s turkey sandwich was from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Kelly found that they are paid for out of President Obama’s stimulus bill.

There are idiots in every profession. Just because this particular inspector is a jacktard, has no relation to the President.

Jaysus-first we put our kids in debt before they're in kindergarten, then we use some of that money we borrowed from China to pay idiots to feed them processed garbage instead of a real turkey sandwich. One more reason to despise Obama and his handout programs!
