Its pretty bad when the Cheif of police in Waldo M. A. Szabo. Feels he has the authority to accuse and belittle the very people he has sworn to protect.. It is my understanding that innocent until proven guilty and not to judge, i often thought there is supposed to be a search warrant before a vehicle can be searched..if probale cause is looking for a reason to search and making up things in order to be able to then commenting on legal items within a persons personal purse.. Note to Szabo..The reason to have a food stamp card with my name on it duh... the bad economy ring a bell?? which is none of the Waldo PD Business. Also if someone has a h&R Block card,, good reason for that is its freaking tax time. And to ask someone why they have a sonagram picture then to comment they would have guessed it belonged to the passenger and not the driver is just uncalled for and mean, Not all Waldo PD has this bad of a bed side manor, i just feel its awful that they have a person in charge who is so demeaning and does not represent them well... Just saying. I did not get a ticket for speeding or anthing else. Just a real big case of being bullied... And Belittled ..

Back in the 80's my buddy got a ticket for going 32 in a 30 zone in Waldo. I heard they would set up a School Crossing about an hour and a half before school started so they could enforce an even lower speed limit. They could probably save more lives if they lowered the speed limit to 1mph. Viva la hick attitude! I don't want to see a picture of him cause I like to imagine he look just like Jackie Gleason in Smokey and the Bandit movie.
Wonder if Waldo's Farmer and Flea market still stands?

I got stopped in Waldo for going 50 in a 35 zone. Cop, fat guy but was really nice. Gave me a warning and told me to drive carefully. I think the thing that saved me was that he let out a huge fart and maybe felt embarrassed, he apologized and sent us on our way.

Every time we drive thru Waldo my 7 year old says daddy where is that poopy policeman.

I got a ticket about 20 years ago from some bulldyke female cop in Waldo. I am convinced she had the radar gun on another car or was just plain lying, because I was closely monotoring my speed and had witnesses in the car to attest to that fact. I was so pissed off, I ripped the ticket up and never heard about it again. I will certainly never be seen in that crappy speed trap of a town again.

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

I read a post and comment and it shows up three pages later so it appears as if I havent any is a terrible tragedy on a sailboat

HONOLULU -- A man who was killed when the mast broke on a whale-watching catamaran, sinking the boat, died of blunt trauma to the head, an autopsy found Tuesday.

Authorities were still investigating what caused the Kiele V's mast to fall Sunday on Hal Pulfer, 48, of Highland Park, Ill.

The catamaran was nearly two miles off Maui in rough, 6-foot waves at the time, the Coast Guard said. Winds were 20 to 30 mph.

I drove through starke for the first time this past weekend and it is clear that this little town needs our money despratly. These speed limits are clearly "STATIGICLY" placed to increase revenue, I was doing 55 in a 55 and as soon as I can see the 45 mph sign I turned off the cruise cntrl and by the time I got down to 45 I could see the 35 mph sign. You have to hit the brakes just to stay within the law... I would prefer to drive what ever the minimum is through the hole town just to save the wear and tear on my brakes and transmition. If you like to speed well its on you but for honest folks who obey the law its extremly unfair. For me its unamreican behavoir at its best!

Hey, just heard some good news. Macho man at the red light on 301 before you get to Waldo (going south), must have stopped the wrong legislatures kid!!!> not working that area any more. not a lawful stop , from what I heard from the guy at the corner...
Great news and good karma. He was a prick. My daughter did the speed limit and was starting to pick up speed again, The dick stopped her. told her she was speeding before the speed limit sign. She had just miscarriaged a few days earlier, and was still upset from that, and wasnt thinking about speeding up.(she knows not to go over 55). WEll, the jack.... asked her "you want me to call a doctor. amblulance??? She was hyperventlating when she called me so upset she could hardly breathe. If I had been there , there would have been one less cop running that area.. ONe day he will get his Karma...
Thanks to the Leglislatures kid, or whoever he knew. for getting rid of one piece of scumbag

I came back from overseas in the 80's and visiting my ancestral area there near Lake Butler, took the short cut to the Starke turnoff from I-10 just to see more of the area. Same stuff then, with signs hidden behind utility poles, down to 10mph at one point. Got a ticket only 5mph over the limit which I'd missed seeing, being the sign was carefully placed to not be seen till too late. I've not had a ticket anywhere since. In my great grandfather and my grandfather's day they knew how to deal with this type of corruption, quickly, efficiently, and permanently.

The Waldo speed trap has been going on for more then 30 years and may even have it's origin when these back wood boys were running moonshine.

When this Sheriff retires a new bill will be introduced in the state legislation that no member of the Waldo police department would be able to drive any vehicle faster then a golf cart and could only use tube type radio communication without an antenna and further, that the stretch of road between Waldo and Hawthorn, Florida would have unlimited speed restrictions like the Autobahn Highway in Germany AND out of respect for the Sunday little old lady drivers that had to pool their Church money together to pay the fine of going just 2 miles an hour over the Waldo changing posted speed limits by the neighborhood boys they raised as sons who now are working for this police department years later.

Shame on you rednecks :-)
