Yes, Chris, you are so correct. Avalon Reserve is NOT Avalon Park. Avalon Park does not have these crime problems.

The Avalon Park boundary is before the high school and after the roundabout.

This is so aggravating to those of us who live in Avalon Park. These apartments are several miles from the boundaries of AP, as pointed out. The stupid media, Sentinel and TV alike, just can't seem to get this simple fact straight.

This low-rent, trashy apartment complex is responsible for much of the recent crime in the Waterford Lakes-Chase-Avalon Park area. It's a haven for drug deals (like the one that probably led to the recent murder), gangs, and unsupervised kids. Disgusting.

Avalon Park! Avalon Reserves! Who cares?? Another life has been taken needlessly. All arguments are solved with a gun today. When will it stop? And just so you all know, the name is John Wesley Latson, another mistake of the media, not Laston. The son of well-educated parents who loved their son. Just like you and me. Who are devastated beyond words. Chill out people!! Go home and hug your family and tell them you love them. Tomorrow they may be gone by some gun-wielding stranger.

Typical coward cant handle a a$$ whipping so he pulls his gun.
I cant tell you many times I have been in altercations while wearing my gun and never once did I pull my weapon on a unarmed man!
Metrosexuals and cowards are all we have left these days......real men are a dying breed!

This man who died was a friend of mine. The last time I saw him he hugged me when I said goodbye. Needless to say, his family is devastated. Please say a prayer for John Wesley Laston.

I love watching Avalon Park try and distance itself from this crime. Haven't there been 2 other shootings this year? The crime wave is spreading your way too! Too late to save your arses now.

This was a nice soft spoken guy who was going to college, from a good home trying to make a better life. Don't reduce him to a statistic.

The main problem is our Local and Federal goverment who is too busy about taxing families who ar so trying to make a living. Those parents don;t know weather to put food on the table, help their kidds with homework, pay their rent or motgage or keep an eye on their kidds and teach the the right things and spend quality time with them that could prevent incidents like this. i am sorry to say that is not the first and certenley would not be the last either. Just pray you are not part of it.

How ignorant are you? The whole world is changing more and more eachday due to violence. It does not matter if it is Avalon Park, Waterford Lakes, who cares? Someone lost their lives. A student trying to better himself with an education. He came from a family of well-educated, hard working parents. No one deserves this, no matter where they live or what they do

I cannot believe the idiots that sat here and posted on Wes's article how superior Avalon Park is. Not only is that disrespectful to the situation, but it's ignorant. Wes was a great guy. He was my neighbor before he moved in to Avalon Reserve. He was killed because someone tried to break in to HIS house. That can happen anywhere. He wasn't some thug causing problems, he was a great guy, sweetheart, and was going to UCF for his bachelors. The kid that shot him IS a thug, with a record already. So instead of complaining about your "perfect" little subdivision and say some prayers for Wes and his family.

Yes, I agree, The first few top comments are from some very ignorant people. Avalon Reserve is apart of Avalon Park community it's on the same road isn't it!! You people are so quick to judge not everyboby that live in those apartments are bad people!! Hell do you know who lives next door to you, probably some petifiler there are a million of those living right next do to you and you don't even know it. Wake up people Evil is all around us no matter where you live, no one is immune to the effects of the badness in the world, NO One. My heart goes out to the Wes's Family. They have lost a love one and he's never coming back to this earth. I hope that none of you ignorant people ever have to go through what this family has been through...You see there are people that live in Avalon Reserve that have more sense then you..Rest in Peace Wes and well said Jenn of Orlando....:o)

Itís a disgrace how "peopleĒ are quick to assume that when black people are involved in a crime that it is automatically linked to gangs, drugs, and low rent and trash!
You obviously didnít know the victim of this hideous crime because he was a promising college student preparing to graduate in the fall. This individual was offended because he suspected the alleged killer robbed him after he helped on various occasions.
The parents of the victim are also middle class educated people. Itís a shame, how black educated individual are automatically linked to ignorance once the onset of a crime.
I hope in the future you actually read the facts and actually look at the person before making frivolous assumptions. I have one question....If the victim and alleged killer were white, would you have made the same comments.
Ask yourself this question.
Respectfully,
Disgusted Your Ignorance!

First of all, let me just say I AM THE NEIGHBOR WHO LIVED IN THE SAME BUILDING AS WELSEY! Whoever you are ENIGMA, you are a NOBODY! AND you don't know what you're talking about! So mind your business and be VERY careful who you "run up" on! You sound like and idiot! Avalon Reserve Apartments is a trashy complex and they treated my FRIEND'S death as if it was nothing! Wes was a VERY intelligent and bright young man...he light up my world every time I saw his smile. I love you Wes and you NEVER leave my thoughts...I didn't leave your side when you got shot and I know you will never leave mine...
