what is this crap winter park no winter springs no winter park no winter springs who cares you have two families that their lives are in shambles now. may be if the law would allow people to ride on sidewalks this kinda crap wouldn't happen. you can only walk on sidewalks. you have to be kidding me. lets see car vs bike who wins? car wins. bike vs some one walking down the sidewalk who wins? they both win cause when you see someone on a bike coming you step off the sidewalk for a second.

<quoted text> Mr. Graziano was my neighbor, live in Autumn Glen Subdivision, it is off Dodd Road and is in unincorportated Winter Park, our address is Winter Park. As for these mean spirited comments about Tony and the driver, neither the family of Tony or the driver and her family will ever be the same whether or not anyone was at fault. Where is the decency that we as humans supposedly have.
Dodd is in Winter Park.

Look, according to the story, the bicylist was on the wrong side of the road. It seems he was riding against traffic instead of with traffic. It says one was southbound while the other was northbound.
Though this is quite tragic and my prayers go out to the family, bicyclists need to remember that they need to stay on the right side of the road so they can see signs, traffic lights and observe the laws of the road, just like cars.
There's nothing more scary and dangerous than a bike rider coming straight at you in your lane. If this was the case, I don't care what the SUV driver was doing, she should not be charged. The bike rider was culpable in his own death, unfortunately. If you break the law by being on the wrong side of the road, then you're at fault.
She was texting and driving and had been drinking. She pleaded out for Felony battery probation because the police didn't take her blood alcohol level until 4 hours so her lawyer got it thrown out in court. She was over the bike line half in the grass. There is a wide bike lane there. Texting and driving kills. Put your phone away when you get in your car. She had to write Anthony Graziano (Tony's son) an alcohol apology letter as described in her court transcript. This is NOT punishment for DUI murder and Vehicular homicide.

Almost all of you are so wrong and have no clue exactly what is going on. First off the media does not know everything , you be amazed in how much info we are allowed to disclose to them, they just have basic snips of info that we offer to them through our PIO(public info officer), and "we" meaning law enforcement. I was the first to speak w/ Megan after the incident occured, but since its not my place to speak fully about the investigation, I will tell you this much, she wasn't texting or talking on the phone but the bicyclist was riding towards the wrong direction on the road. Yes tragic but it was an accident. My blessings go out to the family of the bicyclist and also Megan, she was in total shock and out of her mind after the accident, I tried my best in calming her down so I can retrieve the info from her as best as I could, victims advocate came along to consult and calm her which did. So for all of you who keep saying "she must of been texting, blah blah blah"...unfortunetly she wasn't. Yes, I know some might ask but how did she not see him, well things happen and when unexecpected things happen so quickly , sometimes we aren't quick enough to react.
She was found to have been texting when the records were pulled, she admitted it to friends and she had been drinking. Why didn't the police take her BAC before 4 four hours later. She was s till almost over the limit 4 hours later. That's why she got arrested! You get our facts straight. I hope you get retrained. She has been out of her mind for years. She has a drinking problem and it was not 'just an accident". If you would have taken her BAC or even breathalized her she would be in jail where she should be. You didn't do you job proper.

I won't ask but I am curiouswho you are. I too was involved in my own little way (LEO).
So LEO, why didn't you take her blood alcohol or breathalize her prior to 4 hours after? She was texting and had been drinking on Park Avenue before the "Accident". It was not an accident. when they took it 4 hours later she was still almost over the legal limit. She was eventually arrested for DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide. Because the LEO didn't take it for 4 hours her lawyer got it thrown out and she plea'd out for 3 year probation, community service, and an alcohol apology letter to Anthony Graziano (Tony's son). This was caused by careless driving. Pull her driving record, she has a history of driving like a maniac!

I wish to express my condolences to the Graziano family, all of his friends, as well as those nearest to the SUV driver. It is difficult to deal with this on a personal level as we have known Tony for just over six years having had the distinct pleasure to be his teammate AND friend during that span. I canít imagine how the driver of the SUV feels, and I only hope that she can somehow find a way to deal with what must be an agonizing pain.
We realize that freedom of speech allows some people the right to voice their opinions, but what we canít realize is why some people canít use better judgment when passing along their judgments based on what they consider to be facts. Honestly, how can anyone from the east coast of Florida, let alone from another state, possibly give their opinion on the circumstances leading up to the accident? Notice, I am someone who IS a friend of Tonyís and I said ďaccidentĒ and have yet to tell you what I have personally noticed at the scene.
Fact: Tony stands just over six feet tall, and while I realize that he was bicycling I have to admit that it would be difficult to not notice someone of that size approaching regardless of the side of the road on which he was riding.
Fact: The approximate time of the accident was 6:45 in the evening on a Saturday. It doesnít start getting dark here during this time of year until 8:00 in the evening. Again, I canít see how it would be difficult not to see Tony. However, while I have my doubts, I canít speak for the person driving the SUV.
Fact: The portion of road where the accident occurred is four lanes divided by an extra center lane AND with bicycle lanes. If bicycles were not able to ride on the road, why on Earth would the ďpowers-that-beĒ take the time to allocate that part of the road for bicyclists? I would hope that anyone riding in these lanes ride in the proper direction.
Fact: The speed limit on this stretch of road is 40 miles per hour. There is a skid mark at the scene as well as indications of where the accident ended. I drove this stretch of road today at the prescribed speed limit and was able to stop in a distance comparable to that of the skid marks without leaving any marks. For those of you still not convinced, I can go and measure the marks.
Fact: Tony lived in the subdivision directly adjacent to the location where he was struck.
Fact: I have seen Tony ride his bicycle on nearby Tuscawilla Road and he was on the correct side of the street. I canít, however, say if he was on the correct side at the time of the accident.
Fact: The only witness to the scene to this date is the driver of the SUV.
I offer these facts as I have seen them, and no intention was made to point the blame in any direction. If this message is deemed to be a ploy to sway anyone in believing one way or the other I offer my sincerest apologies. Like many of the people who were touched by this tragedy, I still have questions and opinions, but will most likely have to wait until we meet again to know the truth.
I only hope that those people intent on arguing over trivial aspects of the accident can somehow see that they are far off base from what is truly important. It could be that we never know the complete truth of this tragic event and for those of us close to Tony that is something that we must realize. The road to healing is long, but we must find solace in knowing that he was a great influence on many people.
Fact- Megan Daemy was found to have been texting while driving

Fact- Megan Daemy had been drinking while driving, but the police didn't take her BAC until 4 hours later
Fact- Megan Daemy was arrested for DUI Manslaughter and Vehicular Homicide
Fact- Because the police waited 4 hours the lawyer got the BAC thrown out and she plea'd out for 3 years of Probation, community service, and an alcohol apology letter to Tony's son.

I know I'm a little late on this, but need to make a point.
You guys are failing to realize, she swerved several feet out of her lane (on a straight-away) and hit Tony. Does it really matter if he was coming at her or going away from her when she's travelling at 40+ mph? Getting hit by a SUV on a bike is going to kill you, regardless of which way you're heading. If anything I'd like to see whats about to happen rather than get fucked up and not know what happened
I was close to Tony's son, Anthony for most of middle/high school. I was always around Tony and he was an amazing dad and a really nice person. To hear you jackasses judge something about someone you know nothing about is amazing. You guys really are awesome. I'm going to assume something about you all, you don't even own a bike because you're too fat. Maybe when you're walking out of mcdonalds someone will swerve and kill you. How unfortunate would that be?
Also, unlike most of you, I've seen the tread marks. She most likely went up into the grass. I dont care who you are, if you can't pay that much attention you dont deserve to be driving. Almost throughout the entire bend of the road you can see the rest of the straightaway, she could have easily seen Tony. When she got to the straights, she then veered off. What was so important that she looked away for 5-10 seconds? I'm going to take a reasonable judgement and assume she wasn't checking her mirrors.
Her driving record is AWFUL, you can see Orange County records alone and she has had it suspended for careless driving. She was texting and had been drinking.

She was on her way home from the bar and hit him on her phone. The transcripts state "I didn't know I hit someone until I heard the thump" an observer stated, I almost threw up when she said that"

I had the misfortune of driving through Dodd Rd. that day at 6:50 PM and what I saw there changed my riding habits forever. I will never ride on the road, only on trails.

She drove a red SUV. She was drunk.
