Andre Credle, of 30 Foster Place, and Eddy Vargas

Awe, it’s so nice to see different ethnic groups work together on a project. Keep up the good work in Uniondale.

First, the two burglars need prosecution to the fullest extent of the law!

Second, the posted opinions on this blog need a serious look. Since when do we state "hang em high" and "hang em" for such crimes? Given the history of lychings in the 1920s and 1930s, comments of this nature are an expression of an underlying prejudice.

If the burglars were from Garden City instead of Uniondale, would the protest be as vehement? I don't think so, Long Island! I don't think so!

Ever since I moved to Long Island, I noticed how low the education and enlightenment is with the white population. Compared to the City, Long Island is faaaaar behind socially. White people stare at you if you are anything of color or are in the company of a person of color. It's so pathetic to see the arrogance. They really walk the earth thinking they are better. Well, my White friends, you too immigrated from some country into America so you really should get off your high horses. And yes I'm White and proud but not in Long Island. You people need better education.

Your observation skills are laughable, at best.

Add the fact that you necro'd a thread that's over a year old, I'm guessing you don't have much of a social life, either, huh?

I've seen studies show that schools on Long Island [with a few exceptions] are rated much better than most of the NYC schools. I've also seen that the only time anyone would stare at someone else is if the person being stared at was doing something socially unacceptable. My family did emigrate from another country long after blacks [of color] did [I'm only 2nd generation]. My family became Americans and adapted themselves to American culture and did the things Americans do. Things like education - work - serve the military - pay taxes - raise a family in a stable caring home setting - not push their former culture on others. How is it that there are others that don't want to do that? And you wonder why some might stare.

I want to clarify some things about this story. I know this comment is long overdue especially since this event took place several years ago but there are some points I'd like to make about how backwards this story is. I currently am in a relationship with Andre and I can honestly say that if Andre knew anything about that church or churches in general he would have known better about the situation. Eddy Vargas atteneded that church. And if you do your research correctly you will find that it is a hispanic church. They only recently started giving their services in english. Andre has never attended a church. And up untill then all he knew was that people who talk about God say that you can find him at any hour. So when Andre's former friend eddy told him that he had been kicked out of his house with his foster family, that he was hungry and that his church served food to the homeless all the time, Andre didnt think anything was wrong with his story or time being about 2am. Eddy brought Andre to that church and told him to wait in the Sanctuary while he went into the back to get the food. When Andre saw Eddy come back with a safe the first thing he asked was "why do churches keep their food in a safe? ".Once they had gotten away from the church Eddy said there was no food so he took the safe instead. Andre was the shy boy who played video games and read books. He comes from a family that is not atheist but simply does not practice any religion. He wasnt sure if he was going to meet God himself at the church all he knew was that it was 2am his friend was hungry and churches never close because then that would mean God actually stops watching people. I was raised in a christian home so when i first heard about all of this i distanced myself from Andre. I thought he was taking me for a fool and that his story was bull. But there is something about Andre that is an undeniable fact: the man is too honest for his own good. If you tell him to tell his boss that he likes his tie he will actually get confused from not understanding why he should say something like that about something so ugly. He doesnt understand lies or even know when he's being mislead. He's naive and quite gullible. He's not an idiot just abit of a social outcast. He never hung out on weekends or even truly had a real friend. He only concidered eddy his friend because they knew each other since second grade. Eddy went and lied to his teachers and said that Andre forced him to do it but Andre didnt even know the church was there. Eddy and his whole family went to that church every sunday. Eddy told the pastor out of guilt thinking that the "kind church people" would forgive him and not call the police. Once he found out how much jail time he was facing he tried to pin it all on Andre. As Andre's girlfriend I become aggravated and annoyed with him due to his poor judgement of others. I find myself frequently reminding him that not everyone has his best interest at heart. Andre is no theif. His only fault is only seeing the best in others and being open and honest about it.

I'm sorry you must be confused or plain dumb he was a 16 year old boy not a man with bills to pay. He was not a bum then and i can guarantee you he's not a bum now. He's putting me through college. And i didn't know that race should be applied here seeing how he is german jamacian guienese and many other things. It has to do with your upbringing if Andre knew what he was doing was wrong he wouldn't have done it. Shoot i can tell you that on a daily basis he wakes up goes to work comes home and plays video games. He doesn't look for trouble, he never has. The only problem is getting him to help me clean lol. He turns down party invitations to stay home with me. All he cares about is his family and me. So again stereotype? Not applicable here.

Please trust me, if Andre was anything like how society paints most felons, I wouldn't be with him. And thank God he was a minor or else this would really hurt his career. But when I look at a man i look at more than what's on the paper.... Ok well maybe i shouldn't say that because honestly with my upbringing if Andre had been anyone else i probably wouldn't be with him. I mean it's a church for crying out loud. But I know Andre and I've known him for some years now. I intend to marry this guy and, as picky as i am, if Andre was the kind of guy who would be a bad influence on my future children or a terrible provider or a man with little to no good moral value i wouldn't be with him. I'd probably be one of you talking about how he and his comrade should burn in hell on a spike. Andre is a good man and great friend. I grew up with an abusive father and an absent mother ok? Please trust i know a bad guy when i see him.
