Anytime Gang Activity is observe if it appears to be involving illegal aliens (undocumented migrants) call ICE 1-800-X-Sector and ask for a duty agent. These agents will pick up these criminals and set them up for Removal (deportation). Its not the answer to the gang problem but definately a start.

It's the only work they will do....
I know many Puerto Ricans who are hard workers. One who I know personally is a general foreman at a VA hospital and has been working there for over 30 years. I know another one who's an attorney, another who's a pilot, another who is an MD, another who just retired as a successful electrician. I can go on and on with successful stories of hard-working Puerto Ricans who are nothing like you describe.

Get off your high horse, moron!

Pffft, there's a lot more whites on welfare and living in prison than that. The problem with people like you is that you only focus on the Puerto Ricans who are on welfare and prison, but look the other way when it comes to hard-working ones. That's what you call the KKK mentality - dumb and ignorant.

I would just like to thank you so much for your response to the comment that Puerto Ricans/Hispanics are the problem in Deltona. It's amazing how ignorant some people can be these days.

This is so not new. Stewart Marchman Center tried to open up an outpatient and residential treatment campus in Deltona almost 7 years ago BECAUSE Deltona had the highest incidence of drug abuse -- which finances the drug trade that supports gang -- in Volusia county. Residents were outraged at the suggestion their community had a problem and pressured public officials to deny the zoning request. People working in law enforcement, the state's attorney and public defender's offices and working in drug treatment programs have known about the huge drug trade and related gang activity in Deltona for years. Because the drug trade goes on in houses in subdivisions and in parks instead of on street corners (unless you know where to look) it was easy for folks to just deny it was happenning.
As to the folks who commented here that this is happening because of being from Puerto Rico or wherever, that's crap. It's about being from anywhere where there are gangs in place. People moving here "for a better life for their kids" from any city --whether it's NYC, Houston, LA or points in between -- unknowingly bring the gang mentality with them in their mini vans. The kids don't leave it behind.
Go the panhandle of north Florida where there are literally no urban areas and you will find a huge drug trade, but not much in the way of gangs.(In Panama City, the gang problem is huge. I'm talking about the little nowhere places where you can see marijuana growing by the acre and where meth labs abound.) There is a big drug problem there as well, but you don't see gangs hanging out in Two Egg or Ponce Deleon or Graceville or Cottondale.
This is about urban problems reaching Deltona, the largest, most heavily populated city in Volusia county, not just a bedroom community of Orlando. This is not about skin color or ethnicity. Saying this is an ethnicity problem would be like saying all white folks are white supremacists or all black people are lazy or whatever else racism lie you want to tell.

Deltona can do lots of things to resolve this.
1. Reach out to the Hialeah Police department and get information on how they control gangs.(I've seen this and they have a great plan).
2. Ask Rudy Giuliani how he cleaned up New York and follow that model.
3. Fine the parents and the kid if a kid is found to be in a gang after the first warning.(Hit them in the pocket). Make sure any family with gang members receive no government support.(Nothing, no food stamps, no unemployment, no welfare, Nothing!).

These gangs sound like domestic terrorism. we should give the gangbangers two options.
- Either go to Guantanamo and sit in jail.
- Or return to your 3rd world banana island.

Volusia County is going down the toilet.

If you want to see who is causing all the problems... watch the news read the paper etc.
Also look at prison demographics.
Hispanic men make up 40% of the population African-Americans at 30% and white at 25%
This is from a prison study.
With Afican-American and Hispanic incarcerated for more violent crimes by 58%.
This from many prison reports online.

Speak the truth and you are a racist.

How about the fact that PRs much more likely to be street thugs and gang members than other hispanics like hard working Cubans. Look at the PR welfare projects in NY and Puerto Rico. Its a culture much like the innercity blacks.

I left the south side of Chicago because of sh_t bags like I have running around my neighborhood. The difference was up there they were real bad guys, not little punks. If I'm a racist because I work hard for what I have and teach my kids right from wrong as is my culture, cool. We need a little good old fashioned police brutality. It's nice to know I can use lethal force if I need to, god bless America.

Thanks for the stats but some people will just ignore them and go right on trashing the races they don't like, facts aren't something they are interested in. It's a free country so people are allowed to be ignorant and unfortunately racists too.

Deltona's problem are small compared to other cities it's size and other cities in central Florida. The problem is being addressed but alarmist like the hype. Instead of cutting actvities in the parks they should be creating more parks and activites for kids but the leadership here is nothing but talk. There is a years waiting list to get your kid into a activity at a city park.

They want to spend millions on a passive bird watching park that not many kids will go to. Not like we don't have the Lyonia Preserve for that and at one hell of a yearly cost.

i lived in the bronx, i lived in deltona, now i live about 20 min. from deltona. i would not move there, i looks nice, but its really not. car theft is out of control, the police do a good job, but anything after that is out of there hands, and the court system sucks. dont listen to these people, im telling you, the only thing to hit the news in the past years is the "deltona massacre"....but there are so many drugs running through here, it is insane. i was stabbed by an 18 gang girl, for my sneakers. the police got her 2 days later, and the court let her out ROR, because her aunt works as a clerk in courthouse, and also is married to one of the biggest drug dearlers in deltona. deltona also serves as a "quiet" middle ground for drugs between orlando, miami, daytona, and surrounding areas. house break ins are on the rise due to a gang called "doom squad" you can serch them on myspace...under the zip code "32738". all im saying is no, its not like the bronx, but there are alot of people from puerto rico, new york, bridgeport, CT...lawrence, MA....ect. and a lot of crap happens that you dotn see on TV. FDLE is constantly here trying ...TRYING...to crack down on the drugs. so get mor opinions, but remember, life if a big trade off, and there are A LOT of drugs and gangs there. and its ALWAYS been like that. as ammater of fact, one of the hight schools ther is on lock down AT LEAST once a week. hope i was of some kind of help....i wouldnt live there...but if you like it at least give it a try.....the part of deltona also matters, what part is it?
I believe its called the "Deltona Lakes" unit...I won't give the exact address but I'm "off" of Newmark Dr..

Supposedly there are gang members living next door. These people are WILD. I heard some stories from our neighbors. One of the kids next door broke our window in the back...still waitin to be reimbursed the $$$$ we dished out to pay it..this kid fessed up to admitted he did it..not to mention these people got pitbulls runnin wild throughout the neighborhood b/c they said the dogs broke down the fence.

I dont understand why they cant fix it??LOL..Its pretty simple...

If it wasn't for these people the block would be more quieter. They are just bringing it down...

You don't know what the area that you live in is called? Odd! You heard gossip from neighbors, now that is a sure way to get good information, lol.Call the city about the pit bulls running wild, that should take care of that. Also tell them about the fence, they handle that also. All this is pretty simple too instead of complaining here, do something with the people who are paid to handle these things, simple.
Take your neighbor to small claims court if you have a confession and get your money.
You have plenty of complaints but you haven't done anything through the correct channels to handle them.
I think you are of of it. Things can't be "MORE QUIETER" you missed english class, huh? lol, lol

Our church sees 100 - 180 kids from all backgrounds every Wednesday night. It;s not a fun-and-games program either, it's real worship. I've lived in Deltona for 20 years and am happy my grandson is being raised here. Care for your comunity and it pays back huge dividends. If you want to live only around people who look like you, talk like you, think like you, you'd better move start looking for a new country home; but too bad, you'll be the outsider when you arrive.
