Full story: Orlando Sentinel

Two eaglets were removed Tuesday from their nest atop a pine tree near Orlando Sanford International Airport, clearing the way for airport workers to cut down that tree and four others nearby so the adult ...

Why kill the trapped animals "the airport has 24 traps set to catch small animals that are a food source for the birds. Animals caught in the traps, including opossums, raccoons and rats, are destroyed?" Why not release them. People are so cruel. I wish sometimes we could treat the people that make these decisions the same way they treat the animals. Trap them and kill them!

Man moves in, animals must move out or perish.
Simple fact is, if anything affects the way men make money, the environment loses. Heaven forbid man make adjustments, it might cost extra. The state of Flordia's Motto is, "We can't or won't, stop people from making their money". Because most of it ends up generating tax revenue.
Same thing happened to the black bears a few years ago.
They kept getting run over on SR46, so what happened.
Our local government built a tunnel for them and put a fence up to protect the bears, well actually to stop them from crossing the road. SO now there stuck in one area, scared of the tunnel, above the road, which is scheduled for development, anyway, the animals will never win. How dare that animal use my land to live on, I'm planning on building 50000 houses on it.

There's certainly better ways to handle this situation. But the airport chooses to disrupt and kill animals. What a bunch of jackasses.

$4000.00 is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. There are risks and costs involved with flying. If you don't want to risk hitting a bird and damaging your plane...don't fly.

I am so sick of this rag of a paper reporting what Dale spoon feeds them. Would some Federal agency, since it is obvious local and state are in his pocket, do SOMETHING? This guy could care less whether an airplane hit an eagle but an eagle's nest on some land he wants to build on? Whoa nellie , that is another story. Greed and control is the only thing this guy cares about and the Slantinel just sits back and watches-go figure.

Remember that piece of land they just could not find the owner of?
Somebody must be paying the taxes!?
You see you cannot even build an outhouse near a nesting eagle.
Eagles gone, problem solved, build away.
Keep an eye out for the next LD Headline, from the Sanford Airport...

This is the most atrocious act of murder that I can think of. My father, Ralph Diehl, lived on that property before it became the Sanford Navy Base. There were eagles there at the time the Navy took over, they have always been there. I wonder if the Navy is as guilty as Larry Dale is of murder.
Larry Dale has no regard for anything but the money that can be made. He deserves a Darwin Award along with thousands of Turkey Vultures and Eagles making his house their home.
This is not the first time this human(?) abomination has shown a careless regard for life.

Does anyone remember the way the signage at the airport was up until a little while ago?
It initially was made with Orlando in large letters and Sanford in small letters, almost an afterthought. Well that finally got changed but Sanford should still be first on the sign.
On almost the same note, does anyone remember when there was a hoopla about a piece of property Larry owned near Geneva which he stocked with animals for his buddies to shoot. He is a real piece of work. Will the day come when the airport signage will read "Larry Dale International Airport". Anyone have an excess of tar and feathers we could coat this piece of garbage with that tries to pass itself off as a "human"?

Dot Carlson...I believe your Father and my Grandfather were brothers. My grandfather was Frank Diehl. Does that sound right to you?
