I am 71 years old. I was raised in a community that thrived on ugly gossip. When I was 13 years old, a male classmate made untrue sexual statements about me in an attempt to ruin my reputation. He grew worse over the next 40 years.
When everyone else was mournfully commenting on his untimely death at a young age, I commented aloud that I was glad he was dead. He was an ugly man with an ugly mouth who beat his wife and children. He enjoyed causing pain to others by whatever means. I had no regrets then nor now.
Good for you! Really. You needed to obviously say it out loud and it's good you did.

Yum! Where does one find that in Portland?
There used to be a place on E. Burnside at 39th abut it closed. Now I make my own. Dryer's Chocolate ice cream doesn't need extra chocolate and W*nco sells malt power.

There is the other side, where a person offers to do something, then later throws it up in your face to get something from you in return. Like giving someone a suit you don't need, then guilting them into taking you to dinner at Mendy's. I get the feeling that Olivia said, if you don't include my son's girlfriend, none of us can come. So the bride gives in and says, Well, if we have to.... Thus her criticism on how the invite was worded. The bride was understandably miffed at having to include this person. She probably regretted having the woman do her the "favor", since there were strings attached.

This is why, as an older single person in a long term relationship, if I do not receive an invitation that includes my SO, I simply decline the invitation. I would never insist that they add him to the list - not knowing if this is due to issues of 1) space, 2) cost, 3) judgmental, i.e. THEY don't consider the relationship meriting extended an invite to him, 4) they don't know me well enough to know that I am in a LTR. Not knowing for sure what, if any of the above are possible reasons, I believe, it is simpler and more appropriate to just send a card and wish them well on their happy day and new life together.

The "lifestyle" disease may have had nothing to do with s e x. Perhaps it was lung cancer or some disease related to over-eating and lack of exercise. Let's not jump to conclusions.
