As if this story isn't disgusting enough, I just read Michael Vick just signed for his own reality cooking show. The reality show is to be named "Wok Your Dog w/ Michael Vick"

I was an Eagle's fan for many years. I can not support a Team that would give this idiot a contract. There are many professions that would not give you a "second chance" following this type of behavior. If he was a teacher, would he be allowed back in the class room? Of course not. There are thousands of examples. He has exercised poor judgement in several aspects of his life. Let him find another way to make a living.

big tim wrote: <quoted text> Okay, now that I've read this I think we can agree on some things. I think (as unfair as it seems) there are going to be teams (Raiders, Cleveland and Washington) that would take a chance on Vick next year. Why? Their qb's suck and Vick has gotten a team to the NFC championship game. But you refer this to sucking as a qb or as you put it "my point, this entire time, was that he would be terrible, which he always has been"? Okay...that's your opinion though, not fact. Next, where do I claim he's my idol? Please post my comment where I said that. You won't because I never said that. Third, after the 8th game of the season is where he can be cut but they still have to pay him this year's salary. Just like Larry Johnson was cut after his 7th game. Anyone who wants to pick him up now, The Cheifs have to pay him the rest ofpay his salary of more than $2 million, which the Chiefs will pay if he is not picked up. But if he clears waivers and a team signs him, Johnson will still collect his salary from the Chiefs. So Vick is getting his 1.6 million regardless. Sad but true. Couple things...Im glad we were able to steer this conversation back to somewhat of a civilized discussion..I am willing to retract some of the cheap shots...Also I was did not know the rule regarding the 8 games....that is sad... Now, I can absolutely agree some teams will take a look at him, however, I think its important to also see that perhaps he's done...I mean, the fact that the Eagles are not using him what so ever must tell you something...they've seen him in practice, etc...its quite possible that he's done...similar to running backs, the age of 30 for a player that rely's on speed as much as Vick did usually has a significant impact on a player. Lets face it, Vick cannot make a living as a pocket quarterback and it wouldnt make a whole lot of sense for a team like Oakland or Cleveland to start "rebuilding" with a 31 year old (next year) mediocre QB....but yes, I do understand that in the NFL, there is always a team willing to take that chance. The only thing I will say, without getting hung up on the validity of statistics, is that a career 70 passer rating isnt just my opinion, when we are talking about how effective he was... Its more me hoping that he fails, because I do have a right to do that...and that not because I am bitter or anything like that. The reason I hope he fails is so kids who idolize him see the consequences of what he did and hopefully it deters them from making bad decisions in all phases of life...

Maybe the fact that the Eagles aren't using him is the fact that he is a QB and not a wildcat running back. I would also disagree with your assertion that a team should not start "rebuilding" with a 31 yr old QB. Arizona Cardinals and the Vikings come to mind. He was in fact a three time Pro Bowl QB. Any child who idolizes any sports player is not getting a good start in life to begin with. I have never been a big Vick fan ( I did enjoy watching him play at Va Tech), now however I hope that he wins a Super Bowl and becomes a Hall of Famer to spite all the deranged beast loving haters, that is also MY right. Hopefully a lot of younger kids will look at the mistakes Mr. Vick did and then see how he has turned his life around and is now helping HSUS spread the word about the sport of dog fighting. Maybe they can learn that no matter how far you fall you always have the chance of redemption in this great country of ours.

Maybe they can learn that no matter how far you fall you always have the chance of redemption in this great country of ours. Super Bowl and HOF huh? And the "beast lovers" are deranged...wow. If you are referncing Kurt Warner and Favre, I would tell you that your comparison is hilariously bad if you are comparing Warner and Favre (actual HOF'ers) to Vick. Not to mention NIETHER of those teams were rebuilding (see AP, the best defense in the league for Minn and Boldin, and Fitzgerald for AZ). I would HARDLY call that rebuilding... Regarding children Idolizing sports players, what world do you live in...so all the kids who idolized Mj, Lebron, etc got a bad start? So,basically every kid born between 1981-today got a 'bad start'. I'd also prefer the kids learn not to make those mistakes, instead of learning that we will give them another shot if they do...IMO.
