I'm glad you posted fellow AMERICAN.

My wife is from a foreign country and the only two channels we received on cable in her language were removed by Comcast. The reason it didn't bother her too much is that she's educated and didn't spend all of her time in front of the television.

Maybe they could replace those lost Hispanic channels with ones that teach English.

Suppose Brighthouse dropped ESPN II (isn't one enough?} from the analog lineup?

The screaming and shouting and death threats would be mightily loud. Unless there is some technical reason for dropping a channel, it's just a price increase.

it is a sad reality that everything is going up in price. we are getting less for more. i switched to directv. they said it would cost me less. well till now, i is costing me way more. not to mention a 2 year contract they did not tell me about. it is just greed. unfortunately we have to get used to it if we want to watch tv. it only goes up from here.

Part of your story accurately describes Telemundo as a "Spanish-language" station. However, there is a reference to Hispanic viewers. Granted most people who watch Telemundo, Univision, and other Spanish-language telvision are Hispanic, but one cannot make the small leap of logic that there are non-Hispanic viewers despite.... It's a small point but it goes to a key point that race should only be used when it is relevant. When describing the activists and the market targeted by Spanish-language television race has a reasonable use but not when it comes to the channel. Lastly, in the newspaper version of the story, the headline says, "Hispanic Channel." The same argument applies. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Amen to those who suggest that Spanish-only speaking people learn English. My ancestors came to this country not speaking English, but learned the language and assimilated into the "melting pot". Why is this so foreign (excuse the pun) to today's immigrants?

And if you don't like the channel change, go to another provider. This is America! No one is forcing you to have cable.

turn off the tv... go to the gym, jogging, work out... hispanics are fighting health problems cause they eat too much junk and watch too much tv.

Oh please! Hispanics are fighting health problems? We're ALL fighting health problems in this country as childhood obesity continues to increase and worsen, as do the number of cases of adult onset diabetes.

And uh....sitting in front of your computer is not all that different from sitting in front of the TV- maybe you need to heed your OWN advice that you so freely dispense to others?

And lastly- this is not about getting people to stop watching TV- if it was, maybe YOUR favorite channels might disappear!

Has it occurred to anyone that maybe non-Spanish-speaking people might want to watch Telemundo in order to learn Spanish, or to study and improve on what they've already learned in Spanish?

Who is the spanish version of Jesse or Reverand Al? When people of color can think of nothing else to complain about, the discrimination card is played. Pay the extra dollar a month if that channel is so important to your daily routine or find something else to do with your time. There are plenty of channels I'd like to get on my dish, but you don't hear me moaning that it's discriminitory because it costs a little more. Heres a novel approach...I actually pay for the channels that are not in the basic package. Try it sometime and shut your pie hole so I can hear so I can hear my TV shows broadcast in english.

Wrong, but if that's what you want to believe, fine.

Now, as an English-speaking white guy, I watch Telemundo enough and was irritated enough to call BH to find out why I was no longer seeing it on some of my TVs. I still have it on my HDTV box but no way am I paying BH extra $$ to get it, or anything else, back on my other TVs. They get too much from me as it is for their lack of programming choices.

To the poster who asked if ESPN2 was too many...

Don't give them any more ideas. It's bad enough that they won't carry NFL Network and FSN. I hate BHN.

Interesting...

I watch Telemundo AND NASCAR (no wrestlin' though) while hitting the treadmill and/or exercise bike.

Assume much, do you?
