First Channel 6 management tried to blackmail BrightHouse NetWorks into paying a fee,and now they Fire one of their best news Anchors, come on local 6 what are you trying to do lose more viewers. Its long past for Henry Maldonado to have been fired,do it and do it NOW,he is a complete jerk and idiot, even a 10 year old could run that station better than he has, what a joke.

OPD has a justifiable shooting and this is what we see on the front page of the ? Great job to those brave cops who were shot at before returning fire and killing the criminal.

WKMG a leader? I don't think so. Marla's better off with another station. Anywhere. Good luck to her.

Channel 6 news is just plain awful. How is it that Marla can get laid off and that gawd-awful blonde, Lauren somebody-or-other still has a job?

She is the best news anchor in town and has certainly been given a raw deal by everyone.

I know a lot of people who have lost a job and the sentinal does not go post an article about them, what makes this women so special? Big deal so she has to find another job, welcome to the real world. Everyone is having tough times.

WKMG is a leader in the community? Wow- I guess it all depends on ones dictionary. WKMG is not heading anyplace I will go. If there is anyone with an ounce of morality left there - now would be a good time to head for the hills. My remote has not stopped on 6 for many many months - Bye Marla - good luck

I guess I won't be watching that station any longer. I really enjoyed her and followed her to channel 6 after she left chanel 9.

This is further proof that the media is the news story, these days. Somehow, I suspect there's more to this story, than they are telling us (I know, big surprise there). It's really hard feeling bad for someone who's salary is generated by advertising dollars and in essence all they do is read a teleprompter for a living. I have more sympathy for the single mom or dad who loses their job; a job that most likely requires them to stand on their feet or do manual labor for twelve hours a day. Maybe she should put her resume in at BrightHouse's Channel 13 News, just to get some retribution.

Now if WKMG would lay off the rest of their news reporters, we would be headed in the right direction. Will this be the "BIG", the "BREAKING", or the "WE ARE THERE" story of the night? I need to run down and take a picture on my cell phone of Marla leaving the station to send into 6pics.

Didn't she bail out WKMG after Mark had a stroke?

No good deed goes unpunished.

Wow "Young man" you can tell you are young and arrogant just by your responce.
As a respectful adult; I thank you Marla for many years of dedicated sevice to Central Florida, to many of us you are a household name.
I highly disagree with their decision to "terminate your position" but even if it is in another state you will be able to aquire another position and live our your legacy.
It is now, in this financial termoil that Florida is in we would turn to you each day for comfort and direction on what lay ahead. But sadly we will have to rely on someone who to most of us does not have our complete trust.
Just a quick note to all of the news stations that may happen to read this. It is not about a specific news station in general. Many of us, even as young adults turn to different news stations for different reasons. We may watch the news at 5 on one station, and watch the weather alerts on another station. For many of us it is trust and reliance, and we do have specific people on the news that we turn to.
For many it was Marla Wheech to hear the news. Taking that away from us is almost like betraying our trust.

Good Luck Marla wherever the future takes you.

lol wouldn't it be funny if she ended up right back at WFTV,i would bust my sides laughing if that happened, would serve WKMG right too after all the nonsense they have pulled in the last year. And you are talking about Lauren Rowe.

Don't you just love it when a place "lays off" someone from their job and how much they make flowery speeches of how they will miss the person? Why do humans buy this B.S.? If she was one of the best, than wouldn't logic suggest that you would hire one of the worst. Most likely she just made too much money and that's how businesses clean house! Of course it would be nice if they would quit the false flowery speeches!

It is my personal opinion, that Marla Weech being laid off at WKMG-Channel 6 has to one of the worst decisions that Chnl 6 has made in it's existence here in Orlando. Marla Weech, not only is one of Central Florida's best-known anchors, but she has the most integrity of the news anchors in the area. Once again, the talented, the caring, and the intelligent people are sacrificed for the inept, uncaring and ignorant. I wish her well in obtaining an even greater position where she will be appreciated. Metro Orlando is losing one of the best personalities to come along in a long time. Remember to always consider the source. Good luck Marla.

Why would you lay off one of the best anchors in town? Marla was the only reason I started watching 6 news but now I will go back to 2. Maybe WESH should take a serious look at her and have her paired up with Jim Payne at 6pm. They might even attract more viewers than channel 9.

I can think of other "on air" personalities you could have let go other then Marla. I guess since she is the "new kid on the block" she is the first to go. Now all really have in the evening is Bob (Jackie, not so much a fan) and sweet Lauren in the morning. Put Lauren back in the evening and move Jackie to mornings. Trust me when I say there are a lot of us out here who feel this way.

"All she does is read a teleprompter" is what was stated above. It is you and the others who feel that this was deserved that makes the world what it is today. And that is full of uneducated vindictive children.
It takes many years of schooling way beyond a college level and hard dedicated and persistance to become a "someone" in the news industry or journalism for that matter. Not to mention to stay in the industry as long as she did you have to have something positive going for you.
Journalism and media is what runs the entire world, its what gives you the freedom and free specch to write comments on this blog.
No one deserves to lose their job right now, and if you are making horrible comments about it and saying that it is deserved then you either lost your job already yourself, or you are jealous that someone like Marla was in a higher position then yourself.
It comes down to being a living example of the Golden Rule. And for those people making the uneducated comments the Golden Rule Is
"Treat Others as you want to be treated"

Something is rotten here. Orlando has become a rotten town. High prices, high crime. Walt would never build his circus here now. It's mass insanity out there.
