Murph did you ever read the book about the Elizabeth Ann Duncan murder case? She's the MIL who had her DIL murdered back in the late 50's. I saw the movie last night. That woman was a total whack.<quoted text>
No, I don't think I ever heard of that. Sounds like it would be an interesting book. I will look up that name.

Ouch.......... but I bet I can beat that. A few months ago I was getting ready to strain some pasta. I had the pan in one hand and the strainer in the other. I wasn't looking and dumped the water all over my hand that was holding the strainer. That sucker sizzled for hours. The minute I took the ice off it would start sizzling again. <quoted text>
Try the pan with the collander/strainer built in. Then you just lift the colander with the pasta out and no burning.

All I know for sure is you are defintely my kind of people!
Heck, if you were kin to me...I'd park you on the front porch and let you wave to the neighbors.
I like being Brad Pitt the best Jane! Those were some real nice things you said to me, I think? You seem like good people to me too.

Sure, didn't know Jane was a wine drinker. Evening back to you a day late. We should have a wine tasting thread. It will just attract all the drunks maybe? Say Cheese!

Missy, that story sounds like a daily thing with me when my RA flares. I have dumped So Many cups of coffee, tv dinners, etc., because my hand just suddenly Let Go.
Once, I picked up a crystal ash tray. My helped said, "Here. Let me carry that for you." Me: "I've got it. I've got it."
Her: "Let me carry it for you." Me" "I've got it." Crash!!!
It hit the tile and broke into thousands of splinter size pieces that went under the refrigerator, under the stove, All over the kitchen. She was probably wishing it wasn't illegal to choke people.
Sorry you have RA..I have carpel Tunnel and I think it's getting worse.i was going to have surgery on it when I had my elbow surgery, but the doctor didn't want to do them together. It sucks! My hands just randomly quit working.

I think the time I was most embarrassed about my hands was when I was in a restaurant and dropped a forkful of food, fork and all. Thank Heavens, I was with my Ya-yas and they just unobtrusively cleaned me up and acted like they had that happen all the time.

My aunt had carpel tunnel. After the surgery, I asked the doctor if she was going to be in a lot of pain. He said a nerve had been pressed so tightly and was so painful that expected that very day she would feel better than she had in months. She did.

The Nun at Hooters.

A nun, badly needing to use the restroom, walked into a local Hooters restaurant.

The place was hopping with music and loud conversation and every once in a while the lights would turn off. Each time the lights would go out, the place would erupt into cheers.

However, when the revelers saw the nun, the room went dead silent.

She walked up to bartender, and asked, "May I please use the restroom?"

The bartender replied, "OK, but I should warn you that there is a statue of a naked man in there wearing only a fig leaf."

"Well, in that case I'll just look the other way," said the nun.

So, the bartender showed the nun to the back of the restaurant, and she proceeded to the restroom. After a few minutes, she came back out, and the whole place stopped just long enough to give the nun a loud round of applause.

She went to the bartender and said, "Sir, I don't understand..."Why did they applaud for me just because I went to the restroom?"

"Well, now they know you're one of us," said the bartender "Would you like a drink?"

"But, I still don't understand," said the puzzled nun.

"You see," laughed the bartender, "every time the leaf on the statue is lifted up, the lights go out. Now, How about that drink?

Murph your Ya-Ya's sound like wonderful people.
They are the absolute greatest. We used to get together in Topeka, where two of them live. There were many wonderful restaurants and great shopping and all kinds of entertainment. After I could no longer go to Topeka, they started coming here, where checking out a flea market is about the most entertainment, Walmart is the only shopping, and, depending on what day of the week they are here, half of our few restaurants might be closed. I feel extremely honored by that. One of them lives where your cousin lives.

Howdy World War Z. I hope your Friday night was great.

Mine was good. My 14 year old grandson built me a new computer (third one he has built this summer) and now has me connected so that he can fix any problem I may have from his computer at home.

Murph how did you first meet the Ya-Ya's?
Did you say before that the one works at the University with my cousin's husband? If so, I wonder if she's met him yet.<quoted text>
In the 80's we were all directors of adult education programs in Southeast Kansas. We were together a lot at meetings. In the early years, we were all facing one huge major problem---"Serve anyone who comes into your center, be sure you are using appropriate materials for each level of ability, many must have one-on-one assistance and some won't speak English. Your charge is to get these people ready for the workforce. Get them through the GED. Teach job skills. Teach basic survival skills. Teach interviewing skills. You Must attend all out of town (mostly 5 hours away 2-day meetings), but the center must be open at all times. Here's your twenty dollar annual grant. Spend it wisely."

Later, we all became Learning Center directors, which meant we had the college students and college committees to deal with.

We spent a lot of time creating materials and sharing them.

The one who lives where your cousin lives used to be director of the program at the same college where your cousin's husband is now president. I don't know whether she has met him. She quit the college several years ago and went to work for SRS.
