Hi all just checking in to let you all know I am o.k. we got hit hard with the tornado. We are five days in with no elec.
Red cross and salvation army have been a life savor. We lost all our food but they come in twice a day with food and drive thru with cold drinks and snacks.
We are hoping to have elec back in a.m. but we are set for more storms tomarrow.
this last one set a record. it was 2.5 miles wide

Hey everyone~~
After reading about Mousie being hit with yet another round of devastating tornadoes I think
about all the controversy surrounding the
deaths of the storm chasers.

My opinion is, I wish they wouldn't do it.
There's really nothing to see when it's happening.
It's the aftermath and stories that really tell
it like it was/is.
Instruments are already in place to record statistic on how bad it is; just like using the
Richter scale for earthquakes.

Please take the time if you want to, and sign this
petition for Johnny Cook.
This should NEVER happen in a public school system
in America.
I'm especially ashamed that it happened in the great state of Georgia.
A sandwich for a child in need? How insulting.
Let's just make him/her feel worse by making
them stick out like a sore thumb with a sandwich.
I'm going to post this on other threads, too~~
feel free to do the same if so inclined.
~thanks~
I signed the petition, Ruby. I hope thousands of people will sign it.

Thank you so much Murph!
This is an injustice, but good will come out of it.

Dang, we have zero tolerance for so many things in
shools now, how about a zero tolerance for letting
a child go hungry?

OMG how awful. No child in school should ever be denied a lunch. Hopefully since this incident was made public, school officials will make sure this never happens again to any child.

Oh boy I got a special treat yesterday. Noah cleaned out his gym locker and brought everything home. Those clothes and sneakers were ripe.

I'm guessing because it's the area where they call home and they love it there. None of us no matter where we live are immune from natural disasters.

From when the Midwest was first settled hundreds of years ago the settlers braved all kinds of harsh weather conditions. They rebuild and carry on because in the end they're stronger than any storm that comes their way.

I just don't get it? Why do people continue to rebuild and live in Tornado alley's in this Country? It's suicide.

GM all..we now have elec. as of 7.30 last night.
But the elec. company hit a water line so no water
for a while. No big deal plenty of bottle water.
Living in tornado ally has benfits like the greatest people you could want.
I live in Ky and still remember the snow storms and lived in Fl where we had to run from huricanes
I have seen the natural goodnees come forth.
Teens caring for the babies while the parents dig
in rubble making the little ones laugh again.
I have had people I don't even know stop what they
were doing to help me clean my yard.It is a great
place when a shelter of people all sing old macdonald to keep the kids from hearing the wind.

I will take my chances here with so many others this is home.

Good morning everyone~~
I have an insurance question this morning after
thinking about it last night.
If your house is completely gone and only the foundation is left, is the homeowner obligated
to rebuild on that same site after insurance pays
off?

It all comes down to the people, hu Mousie?
I was raised on an island, not the best place to be during
a hurricane. But it was our home and everyone knew everyone.
If we knew bad weather was coming we felt an obligation to
help the elderly batten down their hatches, too.

One of the biggies was drawing water~~all of us were on
artesian wells and pollution was a real threat.
It was a good job for the younger kids to do...

I lived in a town that had artesian wells. Good tasting water.

Are you guys getting a lot of rain? A week ago I was complaining about no rain and now we're on flood warnings. Apparently, the rain Gods heard me.

We're getting just enough for our area, especially for the
gardeners in our neck of the woods.
We're not in a flood plain~~thank goodness.

A few weeks back, after we had had days of steady rain, it
finally cleared after about three days.
I was sitting on the liar's bench in my backyard, enjoying
the sunshine.
I kept seeing bright sparkles on the ground a few feet in
front of the bench.
I thought, oh brother, it's finally catching up with me, I'm
having flashbacks and hallucinations~lol
Interesting, it turned out to be small but really pretty crystals.
Must have washed down from somewhere during the rain,
I picked up a bunch of them.

Did anyone see this. It's from a Nashville news station. I can't get the link to work but there's even pic's with the deer wearing a Birthday hat.
After all this time I think the family should be able to keep the deer.

Five years ago, a female deer was hit outside of a Michigan couple's home. The deer suddenly went into labor and gave birth to twins.

One of the twins died, but the other survived. Not knowing what to do with the near-dead baby, the couple asked the responding police officer if they could try and nurse it back to health. He told them to go for it.

They named her Lilly, and she became just another member of the family. She sleeps on a futon, watches animal planet, likes to sleep in and nap with the cats, while also enjoying a game of Frisbee in the back yard.
...
But after receiving a complaint, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is threatening to take Lilly away from the only family she's ever known.

If Lilly fails to rehabilitate, they will put her down.

Do you think the family should be able to keep Lily?

Hey girl..don't know much about ins. this is what I know.
You are not force to rebuild on same site but you still owe
Same thing for your mortage payment. Some compay's are letting
peeps skip a month payment. Big deal, right...
Funny part I was worried about the kids who had gone thru so much.
But when the trucks came in every day with food, water, drinks, candy and every kind of chips they make the kids were dancing up and down. You would have thought it was Christmas.
And never once did any one tell them they had to be with adult.
Everything was given out with a smile and some times a hug.
for the lot if not paid for.

Liz~~
This shouldn't even be an issue. There are exceptions to the rules
sometimes and this is definitely one of them.
Sounds to me like Lilly is right where she wants to be, so what's
the problem?
To even think about euthanizing her is barbaric and cruel.

Thanks Mousie~~that's what I thought would happen.
The kids that had to go through this will definitely have
something to tell their kids and grandkids.

Typical for kids, they loved the idea of a snack wagon full
of junk food cruising their neighborhood~~too cute!
