I'm sorry that sucks for Thing One. Maybe by next year she'll get over her fear of tumbling and try out again. I know the competition is fierce in Texas........I've seen the movies. Some of those Mom's are crazy. It's not that big of a deal here but I have noticed the cheering squad is pretty much always the same girls year after year. I'm guessing that it's not easy to break into and eventually the other girls just give up. Was Thing One trying out to cheer for a spring sport? We only have fall and winter cheerleaders here.

Football cuts are mid August here and I've seen plenty of boys coming out of the field house in tears after having to turn in their equipment and told they didn't make the team. It's sad. Even if they make the team it's pretty much the same kid's year after year who dominate the field. If the team is up or down by a lot of points at the end of the 4th then the coach will sub some of the other 20/30 kids on the sidelines for a couple of running plays.

LG stop laughing over my wild car rides. When his Dad asks me about the driving he refers to them as " wild carnival rides" Then he tells me to keep up the good work..........good work..........we almost have a accident every time we go out.

Cheer tryouts were Friday. This is Texas and competion is fierce. I mean, some of those kids have been in lessons since they could walk, no joke.
Thing doesnt tumble- she can ,but she wont(she was hurt awhile back and is scared)...so anyway she didnt make it. She was so upset...poor thing. Of course I'm OK with it. Saved over thousand bucks!
YES it cost that much. Isnt that crazy?!

Shuaw,

Hello everybody! Happy Monday! I have to share this with you.

My husband was reading the Lost & Found of our local newspaper and found this.

LOST HEART. 4 years ago this month I lost my heart to my beautiful wife, K XXXX. She has had it with her ever since and I hope that she holds on to it forever.

Oh Lord! A man after my own heart. What a lucky girl K is. I'm jealous!

I'm with you LG as far as the cheering. My daughter cheered at our park for two years. After 8 years of baseball, couple years of football (for a child, not mine who lived with us) and my daughter cheering, I was ever so happy to leave that park. I spent a lot of money, and I've seen how competitive some of those folks are. I'm sorry! I'm not that competitive, and that's not my style. Hurrah/Hurray for whoever is. I just think too much competition, plus all of their school work and homework can be a little too much some time (jmho).

Also Liz, I think some of those coaches treat those kids like they're on a PRO Team. Maybe that's how they learn...I don't know, but it gets kind of old seeing the same old kids out there (hotdogging it up) and looking at the faces of the kids who never get to play. I think it's sad and way to political. It's a freakin' game for kids to PLAY, not watch from the sidelines for pretty much the whole season.

DazzleDat is the outspoken one in this post.
It's hard to keep up with who's who with so
many of us wearing our heart avatars.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods...

I'm sorry Ruby. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I am so poor at observing appearances, even avatars. As much as I I like to change my avatar, you'd think I'd notice, but I'm that way with everything, peoples clothes, etc.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the heart avatars for? Is it for a special person or Red Dress Heart Month? I'm never up on things.

AG aka ArtGal is a poster who is only 42 yrs old battling for
her life with brain cancer.
It's inspiring to see the outpouring of good wishes for her.

AG is my hero~~she has handled it with humor, honesty,
snarkyness (I mean that in a good way) she's very witty
and can say some funny though naughty things.
My kind of gal...

I'm sorry to hear that your friend is having to go through such a battle, at such a young age too. She sounds like a person I'd like too. Having such a sense of humor can help one battling a life-altering illness and goes a long way toward helping them to beat it (jmho). It is in turn inspirational to the person who is fighting for their life to have the upbeat thoughts, wishes and prayers of those around them.

I will remember ArtGal in my prayers Ruby. She's lucky to have all of you...and thank you for telling me. I hope I wasn't being too snoopy.
