Sometimes you just run out of options with those kids. Every time I hear about a mass shooting I can't help but think of my friends son. She's tried everything you can think of and nothing works. So now the boy is 21 and just sleeps all day and plays video games all night. There's nothing I can think of that she hasn't tried to do to help him. He constantly angry and pissed off. He can't work or go to school because of social anxiety issues.
It rare whenever we have a conversation about him that she's not in tears. Her only peace is when she goes to work or is away from home on vacation.
I thought of this angry kid when this horrible story broke.
Good for your friend that she has a outlet from him, work/vacation.
Guess who I feel the most sorry for?
His little sister, what are her rights to not be tormented by him?

I think parents' are so tramatized over this~~
They might just be taking a breather from it.
I think it would be a good idea to not push the
kids in Newtown back to school so soon. Maybe just
declare an early Christmas holiday, even if it
has to be added on at the end of the school year.
I agree. I was surprised to read this morning that some of the kids are back in school there already- not at the Sandy Hook school though of course.
Still, I think it's too soon for any of them.

Some people are choosing to home school their children.
I talked to someone that said she pulled her daughter out as soon as she heard . She just wanted to hug her. She had her back at school yesterday.
My neice is talking about home schooling.
Our Elementary school isn't safe. Anybody can just walk in off the street. Take a right as soon as you walk in the front door and you are in the 3rd grade wing.

Boo hoo! I'm feeling old today.

Just got home from doing errands. I gave my son his birthday card with a little cash in it, the youngest one, the last of the Mohicans. He's turning 20. Damn, do I feel old as dirt. My baby is turning 20. No more teenagers.

I remember when my father-in-law told me everytime he saw me I was either pregnant or just had a baby. I had four, but the way some people act you'd think I had a dozen.

Hubby and I stopped at Taco Bell on the way home. I was trying to read the menu and realized I couldn't make out the words on the sign above my head. I've never had a problem reading from a distance. I guess that's going too. It's a good thing they have a picture next to the number by the order.

Yes, I read the book before seeing the movie~~
It is one of the most depressing books I've ever
read. That poor little girl didn't stand a chance
being surrounded by a bunch of dysfunctional adults
who ALLOWED it to continue. she didn't stand a chance...
I didn't realize this post was as far back as it was. I'm glad I read this post Ruby. I won't bother reading it (Bastard Out of Carolina. I was going to ask you if the book was as good as the movie. I guess I should of known reading about a child being abused and molested WOULD be depressing. Here's your (my) sign!

Hey Mousie! I hope you're having a nice day.

I think losing my sight, whether it be close up or far away, is the very worst part about aging (imo). More than looks, more than the aches and pains that weren't there before, I do mourn losing my sight.

I keep hoping they'll perfect a surgery for folks like me who have lost their eyesight gradually with age.
;-)

Who am I trying to fool? Then I'd be too scared to have it. It's great that you can see well again. I think my mother waited until she was too old, then had a stroke a few days before she was to have her cateracts removed. She did have one removed after the stroke, but began having seizures and health deteriorated so much he wouldn't do the second eye. I'm not sure how well she can see now. I sense she's blind out of the eye on the side she had her stroke.

I guess the lesson here would be to not be chicken or put off when we're young what we can have done to improve our quality of life. Does that make sense? She was looking so forward to seeing better.

That's what I miss about Race posting. I love her novellas. I wish I could say what I have to say without writing one, but that doesn't seem to be my strong point.

:-)

Race makes me feel at home.

I just got through coloring my own hair. I could put some of those people on America's Funniest Videos to shame if I was caught on camera. Lord have mercy! Those beauticians earn their pay.

T-Mom I did not know how bad my eye sight was
until I had the surgy. Which by the way did not
hurt at all.
I could not believe how bright things really was
and how much of the small things I missed seeing
at all.
I felt like a blind person had been given their
sight again.

Mousie, it sounds like you were more near-sighted. My two youngest children wear glasses because they're near-sighted. When they first got their glasses I was upset, ashamed and happy at the same time. They were pointing at things they had never seen or noticed. I NEVER, for a minute, realized either one of them had such horrible vision. The school let me know during routine testing. I never saw either one squinting or any tell-tale signs.

My son's glasses were being repaired in the mall because it was the only store I could find that could do it same day. He got lost in the mall. My daughter and I had to go hunt him down like a dog.

twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled wit
h such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT.

I don't think anyone should be able to picket funerals of people with messages of hate.. Westboro is a cult that works for Satan! I am glad this group is going after them...they cause suffering and hostile environments to innocent people.
