...a difficult moral issue.
Women are going to abort the fetus, legally or illegally ....have done so since colonial times.
In a perfect world there would be No abortions.
Morality is not determined by percentage favoring abortion or opposing abortion?
Hmmmm

Interesting comment.

Does morality include those yet born or does it only concern those now living?

What would prevent this from being reduced to just situational ethics?

The developing fetus is not a human being until it's born.
In 1973 there was limited fetal medicine.
Roe v Wade decision was issued after many states had passed legislation legalizing abortion.

The issue may come down to who makes the decision to have an abortion.
The woman involved, the woman and her partner, or a state legislature.

If a birth takes place in a late term abortion and the child is killed this is murder.

The video that Obama and Hillary claimed created the anti-Muslim sentiments leading to the attack and the murder of the ambassador. The video they talked about for weeks afterwards even though they knew it was a terrorist attack the night it happened.
But thanks for making my point. A reasonable person would have known about the video and a cover up at the highest levels.

There is a whole stack of SCOTUS decisions since then that attempts to balance viable baby and woman's choice

Get it together and respond to what was posted.
You were dissing Bettie for using the same Time source as DuPont
"But you conveniently overlooked the part about "Democrats promoting and protecting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac". And you conveniently overlooked the part about the "economy taking off after the Bush tax cuts". So, basically, you are wrong."

so let's start with how a Republican Congress somehow let Democrats protect F&F.

and then we can go on to how the Bush tax cuts did nothing for our economy. did plenty for China's economy, but a big failure at home.

Women should have the right to kill the life they, themselves, created even when birth control is easily accessible and creating an unwanted baby is easily avoidable?
The percentage of those who are pro-choice has dropped from 47% to 41%. I believe it's going to shrink even further.
Now that birth control is free.
nice argument, but i'm pretty sure the right wing nutjobs have been calling birth control the same as an abortion.

Seriously? You can't see that if Obama had admitted to a terrorist attack on the anniversary of 9/11 after announcing to everyone on the campaign trail he personally had al Qaeda on the run because he killed bin Laden that he wouldn't look ridiculous just weeks before the election?
He just looked ridiculous instead after the election because everyone knew he lied to win the election.
That makes a lot of people angry - reasonable people.
Don't know if "he personally had al Qaeda on the run" but his drone program and the killing of Osama bin laden seem impressive.

The infant is not a fetus if it can survive on it's own. Even that's arguable. Why is a murderer charged with double homicide when he kills a pregnant mother?

No law is going to prevent abortions from happening.

But the original law was extremely narrow in its definition of abortion and led to Pandora's Box being opened and now we have abortionists like Gosnell and Tiller - the two who were just caught doing late term and born alive abortions. Who knows how prevalent this is?

We also now have liberals demanding late term abortions be legal as well.

The killing of human life becoming the law of the land can only lead to a barbaric society.

There are no easy solutions but a society MUST take the moral high ground to be considered a civilized society on issues concerning life and death and respecting life in any form or phase of development.

The number of abortions has skyrocketed since Roe v Wade. It's not even considered a moral dilemma by most liberals - not even late-term abortions. We've already become a barbaric society.
