The loudest voices against gay marriage are conservative Repubicans. Probably most of it coming from the Southern Bible Belt.

Since 1998, the issue of gay marriage was brought to the ballot 32 times and voters have gone to the polls and voted against it. Gay marriage is prohibited in 38 states even “blue” states like California, Oregon and Delaware.
People on both sides of the aisle don't like redefining the cornerstone of society - marriage and family - which was once considered a sacred institution.
