America surely has its great historical moments but it also has its shameful travesties, too. The Indian marches and government treachery violating its own treaties is one. Slavery is another. The Japanese-American internment was just one more.
Wonder what a percentage poll would look like of people these days, that even realized, there was such a thing?

:-)
FEMA grants should not be used to fund rebuilding on sand bars like the Rockaways or below sea level in New Orleans, future disasters just waiting to happen again.

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus on Thursday admitted that the party's recent shortcomings were due to bad candidates saying "biologically stupid things," but called Karl Rove's efforts to field more electable nominees in Senate races a "fool's game."
"Listen, I donít think our platform is the issue," Priebus told reporters during a trip to Des Moines, Iowa, according Radio Iowa.I think a lot of times itís some of these biologically stupid things that people say, you know, that I believe caused a lot of the problems."
Priebus was referring to candidates such as Todd Akin, whose inflammatory remark about rape helped seal his fate last year in what was a winnable Senate race for the GOP. The failures in 2012 by Akin in Missouri and Richard Mourdock in Indiana served as the impetus for Rove's new effort to find more electable Republican candidates in Senate races, a move that has set off something of a civil war on the right between the establishment and tea party types.

so does he mean they were biologically stupid, or that they just said biologically stupid stuff?
After reading that piece I had the same question. Is biological stupidity hereditary like adult diabetes, pattern baldness, yucky moles and such__or__is it simply biological s-t-u-p-i-d-i-t-y as when Carol explains abstinence.

"Fools game" and "Rove" in the same sentence is classic!

Why does a healthy 20-year old need checkups and/or blood tests?

Screenings for what?

What preventative care?

Insurance overheads included the marketing, advertising & selling of policies along with the billing & collections aspects.
Medicare has none as the money is collected thru the already existing IRS.
Medicare actually contracts out most the actual work through private contractors.
The costs for the IRS to collect the money are costs that should be charged to Medicare.

Just one example of how the government cooks the books.

Medicare is far from a free ride for those who have paid enormous Medicare taxes over their lifetimes.

Most people who retire at age 65 and go on Medicare pay higher insurance premiums than they did with company-sponsored private insurance.

Most who reach age 65 and continue to work stay on their private policies and decline Medicare.

I am a Topix old timer, having been a posting rejected woman since 2007. Let me clear you guys up on something: I am half of a bi-racial gay COUPLE that live together in an embarrassing hidden location. I am half anglo (but pathetically try really hard to sound urban & tough), while my other half (the SOCIOPATHIC-PSYCHO -RACIST) is African American.
I have been a notorious troll on the gay sites for a long time, and it was in the earlier days of Topix (when I had actual profiles w/pics) that I outed myself. I usually get on Topix all the time sharing my ignorance all the same time. Given as I look like a cross between a barnyard hog and Ooompa Loompa from Willie Wonka, I am usually laughed out of the forum (or just ignored).
I am really finding it hard to believe some people are legitimately debating with me, an intellectual lightweight, ID CHANGING, ID STEALING KNUCKLE DRAGGING, CROSS DRESSING TOPIX TROLL CLOSET CASE.

Candidates like Akin and Mourdock allowed their fundamentalist religious views to overcome common sense, something that the Republicans need to weed out in their candidate selection.

Many of the same useless fundamentalists stayed home on Election Day because of Romney's religion.
