Barack Obama, our next President

"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep," Obama cautioned. Young and charismatic but with little experience on the national level, Obama smashed through racial barriers and easily defeated ... Full Story

So here's what we have.

We have a president who wanted sequestration instead of solving the deficit crisis to scare people so he can blame the opposition.

We have a president who sends emails to government departments telling them to make sure things look as bad as he said they would be.

We have a president who closes the White House doors to the public but hosts lavish dinners and a weekend golfing with Tiger Woods costing taxpayers over a million dollars which could have saved 341 federal workers from furlough.

We have a president who promised a balanced approach but reneges on fulfilling his part of the bargain and instead wants even more taxes.

We have a president whose former press secretary was told to deny the drone program even existed but appoints a CIA director who will give him sole authority to use them against "suspected" Americans here at home.

We have a president whose priority is winning back the House even to the detriment of the country for the "greater good" of fulfilling his progressive agenda during the last two years of his administration to succeed in fundamentally transforming the nation to match his vision. The economy and jobless Americans be damned.

Now, if anyone on the left is tempted to provide a knee jerk blanket response, please try to resist and address any or all of the above with facts that disprove them.

Earlier Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who supports Paul's filibuster, was able to pressure Attorney General Eric Holder into saying that targeting a U.S. citizen not engaged in active combat would not be constitutional.

Paul has reiterated that point. Yet it is not quite so clear-cut--especially for terrorists, who try to blend into the rest of the population.

Israel's highest court wrestled with the same issue in 2006, ruling that it was legal for the military to kill a terrorist even if that terrorist was engaged in ordinary, everyday activity, though that power was carefully circumscribed and not to be used if other means are available.

It is the function being performed by a person, not their physical distance from the battlefield (e.g. in a café), that defines that person as a combatant.

The U.S. government wants the power to target people, including U.S. citizens, who are unlawful combatants disguised as civilians. It likely has that power under the Constitution.

Sen. Paul is confusing the issue somewhat by suggesting that the government wants the power to target people who are definite non-combatants. He is right that the Constitution does not grant that power, and that individual liberties come first regardless. But he is wrong about the distinction between combatants and non-combatants, which is really the core of the problem.

Not exactly.
Al-Awlaki's 16-year old son was targeted separately and killed in a separate attack, not as collateral damage in the father's assassination.
Yet, Obama would be first in line to argue against capital punishment for a 16-year old serial killer.
I didn't know that about Al-Awlaki's son. Good point about the glaring hypocrisy once again.

Are Republicans the New Democrats?
Who would have guessed last year that the GOP would be endorsing a litany of previously unthinkable positions? Elections have consequences, and this time, an identity crisis seems to be one of them.

seeing as how you're the poster child for identity crisis.

Rand Paul is wrong about drones, but he’s right about most of his filibuster speech.

Look, I think we are at war and that means enemy combatants on US soil, regardless of their original citizenship can be targeted as soldiers in a war. Rand Paul invoking the 5th Amendment for enemy combatants is batty to me.

One of the many problems with the American demoncrat jackboots has been its image as something rather too solemn, mirthless, herbivorous, dull, monochrome, righteous, and boring.

You "think" we're at war"? What a revelation!

Very interesting that you leftists have "evolved" from demanding GITMO detainees have civilian trial in New York (that was a PR disaster and backed off on by Obama & Holder). But that was when you were politicizing the war andtrying to drag our former president through the mud.

Now you leftists are wishy washy on killing American on their own soil and no lobger treating things like criminal matters? Quite a departure for sure.

The hypocirisy is stunning.
