McCain Jeered At Town Hall After Opposing Mass Deportation
One man yelled that only guns would discourage illegal immigration. Another man complained that illegal immigrants should never be able to become citizens or vote. A third man said illegal immigrants were illiterate invaders who wanted free government benefits.
McCain urged compassion.“We are a Judeo-Christian nation,” he said. McCain’s other town hall meeting took place in Green Valley, south of Tucson.

Barack Obama, standing in front of seventeen first responders, blasted Republicans on Tuesday for refusing to raise taxes as part of a deal to avoid the “sequester” cuts. However, it was his own administration who not only championed the idea of the sequester, but he is the man that signed it into law. This is what happens when the communist lose track of their lies.
kind of like Obama's lie about keeping your insurance if you like it. Many will be upset when they are shifted from Medicare to Medicaid:

'ObamaCare vs. children’s health -If you’re a poor child, and you like your health plan, you can’t keep it. It’s now clear that ObamaCare will force millions to accept inferior health coverage to what they have now. The most-threatened groups include: people who now get their policies from a job at a small business, those who buy individual coverage direct from an insurer, seniors who qualify for Medicaid as well as Medicare & kids enrolled in the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

The undermining of CHIP is particularly shocking: This is a bipartisan program that liberals spent much of the last 2 decades expanding. CHIP provides health coverage to nearly 8M children of families with incomes too high to qualify for Medicaid. The program has plenty of flaws, but often gets kids enrolled in plans that are a lot better than traditional Medicaid & equal to a Blue Cross plan in some states, or the insurance state employees get in others. Yet ObamaCare will force many into Medicaid networks.

At risk are CHIPS kids whose parents earn between 100-133% of the Federal Poverty Level — which comes out to $23K-$31K a year for a family of 4. Here’s how it works: An obscure provision buried the ObamaCare law’s Section 2001(a)(5)(B) automatically enrolls in Medicaid any child whose parents earn between 100-133% of the Federal Poverty Line — even if the kids are now getting better coverage from CHIP.

The provision makes these kids a “mandatory Medicaid population,” so it applies to all states. As long as the parents are in that income zone, the kids are on Medicaid (even if the parents aren’t). Goodbye, CHIP.

& Americans will soon learn that ObamaCare means their present insurance will get switched, cheapened or hollowed out. In the individual market, where people buy coverage directly from insurers, most are going to end up in the new ObamaCare exchanges, regardless of income. Once the full brunt of the law’s regulations of this market starts hitting this fall, the individual plans they now buy just won’t be offered outside the exchanges.(This is true even in states that refuse to set up their own exchanges.)

Worse, many are going to find that the exchange-based coverage is a lot skimpier than what they now enjoy with narrow lists of allowed doctors & hospitals & heavy coinsurance pymnts.

Analysts predict that 25% who get their health coverage from small businesses will also quickly end up in the exchanges & also find that their new plans are far more meager than the coverage they now carry.

Poor seniors are in a similar jam. Under “demonstration” programs being rolled out nationally by Medicare,“dual eligibles”— seniors who also qualify for Medicaid are involuntarily losing their standard Medicare benefit with coverage is being turned over to the states, which get federal cash to manage the medical needs of these less-well-off, & often sickly, seniors. & some states are dumping them straight into their existing Medicaid networks.

These are just some of the dislocations unfolding, & ObamaCare isn’t even in full swing. In his State of the Union Address, the president said he’s simply updating America’s founding vision to help everyone have a better life. How does imposing worse medical coverage for some of our most vulnerable citizens do that?'

The Fortenberry Test Case

If conservative fundraising activists reject out of hand a candidate like Jeff Fortenberry — with an 86 percent lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union — on grounds that he’s too liberal on economic issues, who on earth will they accept? Do they even care about winning elections? Are Catholic politicians only welcome in the GOP if they check their Catholicism at the door when it comes to economics? Are the only conservatives these activists welcome in the GOP those who do not question economic orthodoxy, even if they do so from a different set of conservative philosophical assumptions?

If Fortenberry runs for Johanns’ seat, his candidacy will be an interesting test case. It’s shocking to think that a Republican as conservative as Fortenberry — a Catholic Republican who has the potential to appeal to socially conservative Democrats, and, given his relative youth, to hold that Senate seat for the GOP for a long time — is not ideologically pure enough for these party activists.

Tea Party PAC FreedomWorks Produced Fake Panda-Hillary Clinton Sex Video, Because That’s How Freedom Works

The Tea Party very, very rarely lets us down in demonstrating just how tone-deaf and/or frighteningly absurd it can be. Whether it’s resident moonbat Michele Bachmann maintaining that “There isn’t even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas” on the House floor, Marco Rubio’s hide-and-seek with the camera during his rebuttal to the State of the Union this week, or the self-explanatory Sarah Palin, this group wants us all to take it seriously while it continues to fumble its way into late-night monologues.

Now yet more reassuring efforts at proving just how capable they’d be if they ever managed to seize real power have come to light: According to Mother Jones, prominent conservative advocacy group and super-PAC, FreedomWorks, produced a video featuring someone dressed like a panda simulating performing oral sex on someone dressed like Hillary Clinton, in an attempt at making some political point that would probably be obscure to Salvador Dali.

For every $0.01 rise in gas prices the economy loses $1.2 billion. Gas has gone up $0.50 here in two months. That has to hurt.

Senate Minority Leader Fooled by Report in Military Version of The Onion

The best parody contains elements of truth. Which might explain how the military’s answer to The Onion suckered the Senate’s Republican leader.

Meet The Duffel Blog, if you haven’t already. A must-read for national-security nerds — and anyone who enjoys humor, really — it provides pitch-perfect military parody online, such as this piece about Syria hosting Iraq War reenactors (bylined by “G-Had”) or this one about a Google Street View Prius getting blown up in Kandahar. The Duffel Blog, as dutiful readers know, is America’s oldest online source for fake military news, founded in 1797 in a moment of farsightedness. It often gives more real talk than most legit journalistic institutions, but there is no way you can confuse it with the real news.

Unless you are a senior member of the United States Senate.

On November 14, 2012, Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) wrote to Elizabeth King, the Pentagon’s congressional liaison, with a an unusually credulous query.“I am writing on behalf of a constituent who has contacted me regarding Guantanamo Bay prisoners receiving Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits,” McConnell wrote in a letter acquired by Danger Room.“I would appreciate your review and response to my constituent’s concerns.”

Um, Guantanamo detainees getting GI Bill benefits? Yes, that’s from the Duffel Blog, as McConnell’s constituent clearly states, complete with the reference URL. Said constituent even notes that he or she can’t find any information about the alleged government payouts to suspected insurgents and terrorists.

The Defense Department does a lot of inexplicable things at Guantanamo Bay — there’s a resume-building workshop for detainees, for real — but paying detainees GI Bill benefits is not one of them.“The very idea that the U.S. government would extend GI Bill benefits to enemy detainees is a patent absurdity,” says Army Lt. Col. Todd Breasseale, the Pentagon’s spokesman on all matters Guantanamo.

The Duffel Blog piece about the fake GI Bill benefits is not subtle.“By allowing the detainees to use the Department of Veterans Affairs, we hope to completely crush their souls with bureaucracy,” it quotes a fake Pentagon spokesman saying. There’s also a false quote from Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki:“Because most ‘guests’ at Guantanamo Bay have been there nearly a decade and there is no end in site for their ‘visit,’ the Department of Veterans Affairs is ready to have their claims processed in 12-15 years as per standard operating procedure.”

At the risk of explaining the joke, the Duffel Blog’s real objective is to send up the inadequate, mollasses-slow benefits the government provides to the nation’s veterans. In other news, Garfield ate all the lasagna and now Jon is really mad.

It’s admirable that McConnell went out of his way to address a constituent’s question.“The senator’s office had a request from a constituent asking us to inquire about an issue,” explains McConnell spokesman Michael Brumas.“Our office forwarded the constituent’s question to the Defense Department.”

But perhaps simply following the link to the uniformed version of The Onion would have sufficed to clear up any confusion.
