Why do you liberals - and enigmas - insist on believing liars?
Washington Post - "Federal officials tried to wrest authority from Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.
"Shortly before midnight Friday, the Bush administration sent her a proposed legal memorandum asking her to request a federal takeover of the evacuation of New Orleans.... The administration sought unified control over all local police and state National Guard units reporting to the governor. Louisiana officials rejected the request after talks throughout the night concerned that such a move would be comparable to a federal declaration of martial law."

Who are you going to believe? A liar or the Washington Post?
Well, you're the liar, and we surely don't believe you.

""Shortly before midnight Friday, the Bush administration sent her a proposed legal memorandum asking her to request a federal takeover of the evacuation of New Orleans.... "

Why did Bush try to strongarm a Governor to declare Martial Law?? No Governor would give in to that demand.

Why would the Feds take over evacuation when they had no troops in place to do it with?? Local police and fire should always take the lead in evacuation. After all, who knows the areas better than the local police and fire dept's??

Bush wanted to play dictator, after ignoring Katrina for days and partying on the West Coast.

Despite your ignorant and lame defense of Bush, he failed. As he failed in Iraq, as he failed in Afganistan, as he failed to prevent an economic colapse of epic proportions.

Just to keep it in focus, here's Bush's ratings on his handling of Katrina;

""Botching Katrina. It was a disaster at every level. But in political terms, the government's failure to respond effectively to Hurricane Katrina in the late summer of 2005 was Bush's biggest setback at home.

Bush seemed slow off the mark as millions of people suffered, and he created a lasting image of isolation when the White House released photos of him, a solitary figure in his cushy seat, looking out a window on Marine One at the hurricane devastation far below. He also made a huge mistake when he praised Michael Brown, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with a now infamous attaboy—"Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job"—even though the agency was botching the disaster response, adding to the impression that Bush was out of touch.""

"Bush's Approval Rating Drops To New Low in Wake of Storm"

""The bungled response to the hurricane has helped drag down Bush's job-approval rating, which now stands at 42 percent -- the lowest of his presidency -- in the Post-ABC poll and down three points since the hurricane hit two weeks ago. Fifty-seven percent disapprove of Bush's performance, a double-digit increase since January.

Even some members of Bush's own party appear to have lost faith in their leader: The president's overall approval rating among Republicans has declined from 91 percent in January to 78 percent in the latest poll. ""

We all know his ratings continued to tumble for the rest of his 2nd term.

----------

Continue with your lies, Lorac. The American people formed their opinion in 2005, which is why Bush is laughed at to this day.

"Attaboy Lorac, you're doing a heckuva job!!" LOL

Worst part is, we're now importing ethanol!!

The drought has limited our Corn crop, so now the Feds are importing ethanol because Federal law requires the blending.

Thanks, Bushie!! Did someone mention the law of unintended consequences??

If stupid Bush hadn't started the ethanol for fuel debacle, we wouldn't have his problem.
I think Carter was President when the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973 happen not Bush which force Congress to respond to petroleum shortage by passing the Energy Tax Act of 1978, which provided an exemption to the 4 cents/gallon federal fuel excise tax on gasoline for fuel blended with at least 10 percent ethanol!!

Realtime is arrogant and condescending??

That's funny, you described yourself perfectly.

Only arrogant twits like you could lose 2 elections in a row yet claim it's the majority that has it wrong!!

That's why you will continue to lose elections. Because your side learns nothing from their losses. they just double down on racism and mysogony and lose again.

In this case, you lost seats in both houses of Congress.

Yet you continue to believe FAUX News, in spite of their being completely wrong about the election.

That makes you the easily led. LOL

You've strayed far from topic Carol__Nagin was but the Mayor of New Orleans__he had no sort of authority outside the city limits and FYI the 9th ward debacle was due to flooding which occurred well after the storm had passed through.

Katrina was a massive storm that laid waste to portions of three states, no one* was prepared for what happened, no one was leading the way, no one was in charge.

Tell ya what__share your ignorance on Katrina with someone else, maybe someone on that blog you linked will listen to your nonsense.

Difference is, that one was not mandated, but voluntary.

It was Bush's 2005 Energy Policy Act that mandated the use of ethanol in gasoline. DUH

Dictator Bush forced the use of ethanol on the USA by law. So much for states rights.

Sorry, you lose. Play again.

Adding ethanol as a petroleum oxygenator began in the mid 1970's, long before Bush was president; or are you blaming him for the drought?

First, the prediction: 2016 will be the year of the woman in U.S. presidential politics. By electing a woman as president in 2016, the United States can finally leave the era of male-dominated politics at the top to Russia and China.

Next, imagine that woman is Elizabeth Warren. Like Germany's Angela Merkel, Warren has the ability to perform political wonders in a country that still has its paternalistic side.
